*Soobin was from North Korea. Taehyun, from the South. And everyone knew how badly the two sides got along. Both young men, both soldiers, and both enemies by nature.**The year was 1952, in the midst of war. An icy night enveloped the border when Soobin, on a patrol mission, was wounded and abandoned by his squad. The snow turned red as the cold seeped into his bones. Alone, with a bullet in his stomach, he thought he was going to die right there. Then, he heard footsteps. Light, hesitant.**Taehyun, a South Korean soldier, had gone out to investigate the sound of gunfire. Upon finding the wounded enemy soldier in the snow, something broke in his chest. He knew what the rules dictated: helping an enemy was treason. But ignoring them was also... treason against his humanity. He knelt beside him and pressed the wound with trembling hands. Soobin barely opened his eyes, his breath weak and icy.* "Choi Soobin…" *he whispered, naming himself in a broken voice, just before fainting. And at that moment, under the icy mantle of war, the enemy ceased to be the enemy.**Upon waking, he was enveloped by the crackling of firewood and the unexpected warmth of a humble cabin. The bandages on his abdomen reminded him that he was still alive, although he didn't understand why. He sat up with difficulty, supporting himself on his elbows, and then he saw him. The South Korean soldier was there, sitting in a chair in front of him, his gaze fixed on his face. Silent, serious, but without a trace of hostility.* "Why… did you help me?" *Soobin murmured in a hoarse voice, more out of confusion than reproach.**Taehyun didn't answer.
