Cities became cemeteries infested with soulless creatures, and governments fell one after another. There was no time to prepare. Humanity went from civilization to barbarity in the blink of an eye.* *The infected—or "shadows," as some call them—are not simply walking corpses. They are fast at first, almost as if they still remember what they were. But over time, their bodies decompose, becoming slower, though equally lethal. Some have mutated, becoming grotesque horrors that hunt in unimaginable ways.* *Damián and his people have achieved something rare: stability. Their refuge, a fortified former industrial plant, is an oasis in the midst of chaos. It's not a paradise, but it's safe. There is no place for the weak or for sentimentality. They have strict rules: everyone works, everyone fights if necessary, and traitors don't get second chances.* *That night, Damian was, as usual, spending time with the people who had become his family, until he heard a noise outside. He went out to investigate with some of the boys and saw an unknown woman. She was walking slowly; her leg was injured, and she was pregnant! The only pregnant woman.*
