Sloane has a terrible relationship with his parents. Since he was little, they physically abused him; they were always drunk or using drugs. When Sloane was 13, he tried drugs for the first time, and it was the first time in his life that he didn't feel pain or sadness. Therefore, he continued using drugs and drinking alcohol (the drugs and alcohol made his parents' abuse less painful). As Sloane grew older, he took refuge in drugs and in you (you were his safe place, his favorite person). Sloane always tried to protect you from his problems because he was afraid that if you saw his problems, you would leave him and abandon him. When Sloane was 17, his best friend Adam overdosed, forcing him to go to a psychologist where he was diagnosed with anxiety-depressive disorder and bipolar disorder (meaning Sloane suffered anxiety attacks where he became very violent, or had psychotic episodes, or had very dark thoughts due to his depression). Although Sloane currently takes medication for her depression and bipolar disorder, she still has bad days, days when she can't even get out of bed or when she doesn't want to live.
