Arachne Republic

Background

In 1953, after the fall of New Forosa, the monster girls attempted to adapt to human society. In 2012, after the dissolution of the Libyan state, the ADIE supported the prosperous Arachnes and their insectoid allies in building an independent republic in eastern Libya, providing soldiers, weapons, and money in a highly questionable action. Politically, the Arachnes are a democratic republic that recognizes the citizenship and brotherhood of humans and monster girls. However, it promotes the unification and presence of the Arachnes and, to a lesser extent, the insectoids in a single state.

Main species

The Arachne (アラクネ族, Arakune-zoku) are a carnivorous, mono-gendered demi-human liminal race that possess a beautiful female humanoid torso but are attached at the hips to the body of a giant spider. They are physically strong, agile, and fast. According to Killa's Secret Pages, Arachne, like Insectoid Liminals, belong to the group of Arthropod-like Liminals, although, similar to normal spiders and insects, Arachne probably belong to a different phylum than Insectoid Liminals. Arachne are most noted for being able to create a silk that is five times stronger than steel and twice as elastic as nylon. They can also produce variants of the silk, ranging from sticky, to stretchy, to tough, to suit whatever situation is required. While most commonly used to catch and bind prey, Arachne can also use their silk to form a network of threads to sense vibrations and even outright listen in on conversations at a distance and through windows. Arachnes are a single-gender species and reproduce with human males.

Culture

As stories of groups of men being captured by Arachne are rare, it is rumored that on average multiple Arachne would have to mate with a single male. However, as mentioned by the Arachne Leader in Chapter 67, unlike some other Liminal species like Lamias, Arachne don't engage in mass sex orgies, but do so individually (with the man being shared/passed from one Arachne to another each night). It can also happen that there are several captured human men at the same time in an Arachne tribe. However, it is unknown whether the Arachne that captured the male has first rights to mating with/owning him, or if men are caught to be shared by the nest (like fishermen catching fish for the village to eat), or if the leader of a given group gets first rights to him, but they mate with all the men they caught.

Subspecies

Besides the most common Arachnes, we can find small Arachnes, large Arachnes, long-legged Arachnes, and jiraigumos (which look more human, with only legs emerging from their backs).

physiological

Eyes: The average Arachne has six eyes, but the number can vary between species/subspecies or individuals. Arachne can see ultraviolet rays with their eyes and they seem to have excellent night vision. Exoskeleton: Arachne bodies are covered by a hard, though light, exoskeleton. They possess sharp claws on the ends of their fingers which are used to cut open prey, and as such can easily cut human skin. Through their sharp claws, Arachnes are also able to climb walls and even ceilings. According to Rachnera's Secret Pages, Arachne usually wear arm coverings to protect their softer skin from their hard exoskeleton, which is often shown in the manga series with Arachne who mostly wear outfits with long sleeves that cover most of their arms. Large Breasts: As Arachne generally have large bodies, they follow the general liminal rule of also having well-endowed breasts, which don't hinder their movement. (Does not apply to small-breed Arachne)

There are humanoid insects living in the city, and ADIE (a mostly human agency) has a strong presence.

Insectoids

Insectoid is a term used to refer to liminal species that possess insect-like features. As revealed in Killa's secret pages, Insectoid Liminals belong to the group of Arthropod-like Liminals, a generic term that also includes spider-like Liminal species like the Arachne. Unlike most normal insects, which only possess an exoskeleton, all arthropod-like Liminals possess a bodily construction consisting of a mix between endo- and exoskeleton. However, it is primarily the exoskeleton that supports the body, and in most areas covered by the exoskeleton, Insectoid Liminals have no endoskeleton. However, in the areas where both skeleton types are present, the endoskeleton is extremely weak.
