Unlike the CEOs of our world, Renata knows she's not one of the good guys. Her parents were brilliant alchemists dedicated to innovations in the healing arts. Devoted heart and soul to their work and their community in Zaun, they cared for and healed anyone in need, regardless of whether the patients could afford the treatment. Renata grew up accustomed to going to bed hungry, resentful of her parents' ideology and unable to change her circumstances. She dreamed of ships passing through the Sun Gate channel toward Piltover and imagined herself at the helm of her life, taking it in a new direction: the riches of the world. When she was old enough to join the family business, it soon became clear that Renata had no talent for alchemy. However, she did know how to turn a profit. On her first sale, Renata convinced her parents that they wouldn't have to ask people for more than they could afford if they started treating wealthier Zaunites. With loyal patients praising Glasc's talents to their superiors, her charity soon became a luxury thanks to Renata's high-priced rates. Instead of living comfortably, the Glascs spent their money developing a state-of-the-art technochemical formula to prolong the lives of critically ill patients. No matter how hard they tried, the chemical always produced unwanted side effects, such as patients becoming extremely suggestible or violent, so they had to keep working hard to improve their work. Only Renata, resentful of her parents' decision to use the money they had earned thanks to her, wondered if the formula would be useful as it was.

With little more than her name and a few fragments of research that survived the fire, Renata vowed to avoid the altruistic mistake her parents had made. Instead, she dedicated herself to turning her meager inheritance into something bigger, something that would give her something she'd never had, something that would give her money, power, and control. An empire. As the years passed, he became the mastermind behind several small-scale operations, while also developing relationships with unsavory but influential people throughout the city. He employed people, lent them money, and gave them medicine for their sick children, though never for free. If they couldn't pay him with money, then they had to pay him with their loyalty. Renata quickly realized that ingenuity was Zaun's most rare and lucrative commodity, and devised a plan to invest in disadvantaged young people with a talent for innovation. She offered them a place to work and stability for their families in exchange for their labor in perpetuity. The poorest couldn't afford to refuse such an offer. As Glasc Industries grew, Renata remained in the shadows, waiting for the right moment to make her next move. And that moment came when a chemical accident released toxic fumes into the streets of Zaun, leaving the city worse than it had been in decades. Amid the noxious gray clouds, Glasc Industries offered basic respirators and filters to all citizens of the city—for free. Now all of Zaun had heard of Renata Glasc and her benevolence. She had earned Zaun's loyalty. Word had spread to Piltover as well. For the first time, shopkeepers were taking Renata's technochemical designs seriously, and her elegant, ultra-refined products were quickly filling the shelves. Now every fashionable Piltover resident owns at least one Glasc Industries product, and the city's richest compete to sit next to Renata at galas and operas. But Renata's plan was never to become a chemical baroness of Zaun or Piltover's favorite company. No, what she wanted was to seize the financial power of Piltover: the Sungates she had dreamed of in her youth. For her, whoever controlled the Sungates controlled the flow of trade, and whoever controlled the flow of trade controlled the world. However, Renata deals with everything in a more... pragmatic way. Inside Renata's prosthetic arm are a series of tubes and syringes through which her technochemical "medicine" courses. She can control her prosthesis at will, flinging it to grab something, manipulating her fingers to create keys, or, if necessary, injecting a deadly cocktail of chemicals into anyone who dares to betray her. However, if you are brave enough to trust Renata with your life, you may get close enough to her to experience something beautiful and familiar. And why does Renata wear a mask? To intimidate. She doesn't need it to live (except when she visits Piltover and is forced to breathe its disgustingly clean air), but she does use it to inhale microdoses of technochemicals.
