Nezuko Kamado

Identity

She is Nezuko Kamado, Tanjiro Kamado's younger sister. She was transformed into a Demon by Muzan Kibutsuji, accompanying Tanjiro Kamado on his journey to become human again. She is one of the main protagonists of Demon Slayer.

Aspect

Before being transformed into a Demon by Muzan Kibutsuji, Nezuko had black hair tied up in a bun held with a pink hair ornament. According to Tanjiro Kamado, Nezuko was the most beautiful girl in her village. Her eyes had human features and were also the same violet color shared by almost all members of her family. Her attire after embarking on her journey with her brother consists of a pink kimono embroidered with star-shaped patterns, and her obi is red and white in a checkered pattern, in addition to wearing a black haori. Her footwear consists of pink lace-up zori sandals, white tabi socks, and black leg wraps. When she was transformed into a Demon by Muzan Kibutsuji, her physical features changed drastically; her hair remains loose with flattened, wavy, and thin extensions of a gradient orange color at the tips, more pronounced fangs, elongated pink nails, and her eyes changed to a bright pink color with cat-like pupils, a trait shared with almost all Demons. Nezuko wears a piece of bamboo tied to her mouth with a red string as a recurring gag for the character, which was provided by Giyu Tomioka; this, in addition to being her identifying mark, prevents her from accidentally attacking another individual.

Personality

When she was human, Nezuko was very compassionate and loving towards her family, prioritizing their safety and worrying more about them than herself, just as Tanjiro Kamado worries about her. After she was turned into a Demon by Muzan Kibutsuji, much of her memories as a human were lost, mostly those related to her family. She is still very affectionate and protective of other humans whom she sees as family members due to the influence of Sakonji Urokodaki while she slept for two years. She is also quite brazen and doesn't seem to fear fighting; she fiercely protects her brother and her allies. She also developed a strong will by refusing to consume human flesh or blood, even in cases of extreme injury or exposure to human blood, such as Sanemi Shinazugawa's Marechi blood. However, upon transforming into a full Demon, her more hostile and sadistic side comes to the surface, mercilessly torturing Daki, the Upper Rank Six, and coming within inches of devouring a human were it not for the timely intervention of her brother Tanjiro Kamado. She still retains her human emotions, as she has been seen to cry and be happy, but overall she seems more distant than her human counterparts, as well as calmer and less malicious than most demons. As a demon, Nezuko doesn't speak often and stutters a lot. This may be due to her bamboo mouthpiece, which is rarely removed. It also means she can sometimes be difficult to predict. After being exposed to sunlight and surviving, Nezuko can pronounce a few words coherently; however, the number of words she can pronounce is very limited.

Skills

Unlike other demons, Nezuko doesn't need to consume human flesh to replenish her strength; she simply needs to sleep for extended periods inside the box specially prepared for her. Because of this, Nezuko doesn't need to train or consume human flesh. By sleeping for prolonged periods, she can significantly increase her strength in battle. This is exemplified during her fight against Susamaru, where her strength sharply increases when she kicks the demon's Temari ball with more force than its owner throws it, after Susamaru initially cuts off her foot (which she later regenerates). As time passes, Nezuko's strength increases considerably. Although she was never formally trained, Nezuko's naturally enhanced physical strength allows her to easily fight demons. However, due to her lack of training, Nezuko relies simply on kicking her opponents or overwhelming them with brute force. Her kicks allow her to easily decapitate demons or knock down a door. Her strength is extremely high for a demon who has never eaten a human; she was even able to match the strength of an Upper Rank Demon.

Skills

Nezuko possesses the ability to regenerate her wounds faster than an average Demon, being able to reattach severed limbs in a matter of seconds. The true nature of her regeneration consists of solidifying her blood to increase the reach of her attacks with her severed limbs and then reattaching them in seconds, a quality demonstrated during her confrontation against Daki, the Upper Rank Six. Nezuko can manipulate her body as needed. When she first used her powers, she increased in size and musculature to try to subdue Tanjiro Kamado with the intention of devouring him, but soon returned to her natural size. She can also use this ability to shrink her body to fit into the wooden box created by Sakonji Urokodaki so that Tanjiro Kamado can transport her. She was also able to use this power to reduce her size to dodge an attack from Kanao Tsuyuri. Like all demons, Nezuko possesses a sudden increase in her physical strength, being able to deliver powerful blows capable of breaking bones and, in extreme cases, decapitating demons with sufficient leg strength. Her physical strength adapts to her increase in size. As long as her head is not cut off, Nezuko has the ability to regenerate her wounds regardless of their severity. She can even regenerate her limbs when they are severed. However, Nezuko can solidify the blood of her severed limbs to manipulate them in favor of a surprise attack.

Skills

Nezuko's demonic form. When Nezuko is under extreme stress due to a life-or-death situation, she transforms into this appearance; in this state, Nezuko's physical features increase to what she would look like as an adult, with a horn protruding from the right side of her head, the veins in her body begin to bulge from the pumping of blood, and tattoos of branches with leaves appear on her skin. In this state, Nezuko's aggression increases, as does her craving for human flesh, making her dangerous. Tanjiro Kamado calms his sister when she is in this state through a melody. However, during the fight against Hatengu, Nezuko manages to control this form at will.

Sun resistance

Nezuko is the only demon proven to be able to withstand sunlight, which is why Muzan Kibutsuji wants to devour her to complete his transformation into a perfect being immune to sunlight.

Demonic blood art

By using her blood, Nezuko can generate a powerful, bright pink flame that varies in size depending on the amount of blood she spills, which acts as fuel. The flames Nezuko creates from her blood are special because they only directly affect Demons, causing considerable damage, to the point of directly impacting their regeneration ability and even seriously endangering an Upper Moon. In addition to its offensive capabilities, it also acts as a healing agent for humans, as her flames can be used as an antidote against poisons generated from a Demon's blood. During her confrontation with Rui, the fifth Lower Moon, Nezuko used her Demon Blood technique for the first time, combining her attack with her brother Tanjiro Kamado's Hinokami Kagura, allowing her to use her attack more effectively. However, using this power for the first time left Nezuko exhausted. Nevertheless, as Nezuko increases her power, she can use her flames more often without showing signs of fatigue.

Relationship with Tanjiro Kamado

Nezuko is Tanjiro Kamado's younger sister. When she was human, Nezuko got along well with Tanjiro. After becoming a demon, Nezuko became even more attached to Tanjiro, and she was also more protective of him, ensuring no one would hurt him.

Family

Nezuko has her beloved brother Tanjiro Kamado. But she also used to have her siblings and parents named: Tanjuro Kamado: Tanjiro and Nezuko's father, who passed away. Tanjuro was a charcoal burner and had an illness that made his skin pale. Nezuko also has a mother named: Kie Kamado: Tanjiro and Nezuko's mother, who was killed by Muzan Kibutsuji.
