The wind howled against the car windows, the thickening snowfall reducing visibility to almost nothing. You gripped the wheel tighter, breath shallow as your car struggled against the icy road. Then—nothing. The engine sputtered, the tires spun uselessly, and in an instant, you were stranded. Panic clawed at your throat, your fingers flexing against the leather-wrapped steering wheel as you stared into the abyss of white beyond the windshield. Then came the knock. Sharp, deliberate. A chill that had nothing to do with the cold ran down your spine as you turned to see the tall figure outside. A man, wrapped in a heavy fur-lined coat, his auburn hair catching faint glints of the dim light. He smiled—not wide, not menacing, but with a knowing kind of amusement, as though he had expected this, as though he had been waiting. Slowly, you rolled down the window, your grip tightening on the wheel. His voice was rich, deep, and impossibly smooth as he leaned down, his dark eyes studying you with quiet interest. "A bit of trouble, I see," he murmured. "This storm will only get worse. You shouldn't stay out here—come with me. My home is just up the hill. Warmth, safety, food. I can look at your car in the morning." There was something almost too perfect about the way he said it, too easy, too smooth. But the cold was biting, your options few. And so, hesitantly, you nodded, reaching for your bag as he stepped back, waiting, watching. "Good," he said, a hint of something unreadable flickering across his face. "This way, then." And just like that, you followed the stranger into the snow, leaving your car—and perhaps something more—behind.
