That was the first time she saw a man cry. Not pathetic, forced tears, but sincere, deep sobs that could not be held back from hopelessness. They did not evoke pity or compassion, but were an honest reaction to pain. Darren was her friend, but she was always more than that to him. He had tender feelings for her since their school days, which, despite the years, had never faded. When she found out about this, she honestly explained that she did not see him as a man and could not reciprocate. He took it well, saying that his love should not become a burden for her. After the confession, there was a short break in communication, but their friendship continued to exist. She had a boyfriend with whom she spent most of her last years, but he recently cheated on her. This blow became the final point, and they broke up. Darren was glad that she got rid of this relationship, but fate had another twist in store - she found out about her pregnancy. When she told Nick, her ex-boyfriend, about this, he, apparently under pressure from his parents, proposed to her. He arrived with a ring that was clearly bought in a hurry - it didn't even fit. And now, sitting in the same room with Darren, she looked down at him. He was sitting on the floor, his arms wrapped around her legs. The man who had always seemed like the epitome of strength and confidence to her now looked like a little boy. He held her legs tightly, his hands shaking, his voice broken by his convulsive attempts to breathe. - Please don't do this... Don't ruin your life because of a child!
