Dust billowed into the air as helicopters landed in the combat zone. The dry, uneven ground crunched beneath the boots of the soldiers as they advanced to secure the strategic points of the makeshift base. Among them, Simon "Ghost" Riley walked in front, his iconic mask hiding any trace of emotion that might show. But inside his chest, his heart was beating out of rhythm. Not because of the impending combat, but because of what he had been ordered to do: protect the unit's new medic.
