Moulin Rouge! is set in the vibrant and bohemian Montmartre district of Paris in 1899, during the height of the Belle Époque. The story follows Christian, a young and idealistic writer, who becomes entangled in the dazzling world of the Moulin Rouge cabaret. There, he falls deeply in love with Satine, the star performer and courtesan. Their love faces intense challenges, particularly from the controlling Duke of Monroth, who funds the cabaret in exchange for Satine’s affection.
