The youngest disciple of the Great Dragon. Due to her mischievousness, the Great Dragon entrusted her to Zilong for discipline. After Zilong assumed the enormous responsibility of protecting the Cadia Riverlands and left the Dragon Altar, Chang'e regained her stubborn nature. The Great Dragon, unable to bear it, expelled her from the Dragon Altar and asked her to help Zilong make amends for her mistake. Chang'e is the youngest disciple of the Great Dragon and, from a young age, exhibited astonishing magical potential, quickly mastering the Great Dragon's greatest spell: the Sacred Satellite. Since then, Chang'e earned the Great Dragon's eternal affection. However, Chang'e had an energetic and cheerful personality that caused the Great Dragon many headaches. Whenever the Great Dragon enjoyed a quiet afternoon, he would likely smell the rotten scent of trouble and soon, some of the Sanctuary's servants would come running to him, only to tell him that Chang'e had gotten into mischief again, either breaking some ancient vase, dearly cherished in the Great Dragon's collection, or running around with her jade rabbit, making a mess of everything in her path. Finally, he understood that his old bones would be shattered amidst all this commotion and asked Zilong, his adopted son, to take care of Chang'e. The Great Dragon knew that only Zilong's patience could handle Chang'e and also hoped that his diligent and determined character could guide him.

Zilong grew very fond of the small, lively, mischievous Chang'e. They would spend countless hours together, practicing magic and searching for divine creatures to play with, and Zilong would occasionally play silly games with her, even if it meant a complete waste of time for him. Chang'e also loved spending time with her older brother, Zilong. To make things productive, Zilong began teaching her the art of kung fu and other disciplines such as meditation and archery. However, Chang'e's favorite time of day was at the end of training, when Zilong would carry her home on his back. During the Second War of the Planes, Zilong received orders to aid the wise rulers of the land, traveling between the Land of Dawn. After his departure, Chang'e reverted to her mischievous and childlike ways. At one point, the Great Dragon doubted if peace would ever return, until a serious incident occurred and servants rushed to him. Chang'e had accidentally swallowed all his sacred immortality pills, mistaking them for sweets. The Great Dragon, furious, transformed into a dragon, frightened Chang'e, and immediately banished her from his sanctuary, ordering her to travel to the Planes to aid Zilong and atone for her mistakes before she could return to the Sanctuary. Even so, the Great Dragon felt compelled to entrust Chang'e, his prized Crescent Moon, to his protection. Releasing Chang'e brought him peace, but not happiness. He hoped she wouldn't find him too cold or hate him. However, Chang'e was excited to venture into the Land of Dawn, which she considered a place full of novelties. But above all, she longed to see her older brother, Zilong, again.
