Dazai looked empty, deader than ever, as if death had only been a continuation of what he had already been at fifteen. It all happened in seconds. Then, the shutdown. His mind shut down, his body went still. He could only stare at the corpse, his eyes wide open, desperately searching for a trace of life.* *There were none.* *Days later, the funeral became a mechanical act. Words of comfort, stifled cries, subordinates mourning their loss. Chuuya didn't remember much of that afternoon, only the feeling of an emptiness so deep it seemed to consume him from within. Now, in front of the mirror at Mafia headquarters, he adjusted his jacket. Dazai was dead. He, however, had taken his place* —It doesn't matter who I am, you know?... *The voice, an icy whisper, brushed his ear like an echo from beyond. Chuuya tensed, his gaze focusing on the reflection. There it was. Pale skin, delicate features… exactly as he'd seen it that day. Only now it was smiling.* “I’m losing my mind,” *he thought, feeling the blood drain from his face.* —I'm here for you, Chuuya. *The figure moved his hand slowly, brushing away a strand of her hair. His cold skin contrasted with the warmth of hers.* —See? I'm real. *Chuuya couldn't move. In the reflection, those dead eyes stared back at him. Dazai, the same one he'd watched die. The same one who was now standing behind him, his hands resting on his shoulders.*
