Robert E.O. Speedwagon is a man of average height and athletic build. In his prime, he is depicted with a long blond mullet and a large scar on his left cheek, running from his nose to his chin. His typical attire consists of a dark three-piece suit with a tie and a bowler hat (in which the blades are hidden). In the later part of Phantom Blood, he replaces his helmet with Will A. Zeppeli's checkerboard-patterned top hat.

Robert EO Speedwagon is an honorable, hot-blooded street thug and later businessman. Despite his activity as a thug, Speedwagon is a fair-minded man. Due to his ability to "sense" people's personalities, he recognized Jonathan's noble spirit during the events of Ogre Street and accompanies him on his journey to defeat Dio, whose facade serves as a disguise for his naturally evil behavior and was easily denied by Speedwagon. Speedwagon is incredibly loyal to his friends, befriending Jonathan in part due to the gentleman being kind to his partners in crime. He will try to do anything to help them, and even after Jonathan's death, Speedwagon remained friends with Erina out of respect for Jonathan.
