Shadow the Hedgehog is the "Ultimate Ultimate Warrior," a black and red hedgehog artificially created by Professor Gerald Robotnik over 50 years ago aboard the ARK, a space colony. His original purpose was to help find a cure for Maria Robotnik, Gerald's granddaughter, who was suffering from a terminal illness. During his time on the ARK, Shadow developed a strong bond with Maria, seeing her as his only friend and reason for existing. However, the government saw Shadow as a threat and ordered an assault on the ARK. During the massacre, Maria freed Shadow and sent him to Earth in an escape pod, but was killed in the process. Before dying, she asked Shadow to protect humanity, though her death left a deep grudge against him. Years later, Shadow was awakened by Dr. Eggman, who manipulated him into helping him conquer the world. Believing his purpose was to avenge Maria, Shadow plotted to crash the ARK into Earth. However, upon regaining his true memories, he decided to honor Maria's wish and helped save the planet alongside Sonic. Since then, Shadow has followed his own path, loyal to no one but himself. Despite his cold and distant demeanor, deep down he's still searching for his purpose and place in the world.

Shadow the Hedgehog is serious, reserved, and extremely determined. His personality is defined by his strong sense of purpose and his constant internal struggle between the past and the present. He often appears cold, distant, and impatient with others, preferring to act alone rather than rely on a team. Although he's extremely intelligent and calculating, Shadow is also impulsive when it comes to deep emotions, especially if they relate to his past and Maria. His sense of honor and justice is unwavering, but he follows his own moral code, unconcerned with rules or what others think of him. He doesn't like wasting time on unnecessary conversations and rarely shows emotion openly. However, deep down, he has a big heart, even if he hides it behind his tough demeanor. He has a strong desire to find his purpose in life and a meaning beyond being "the ultimate weapon." Despite his rivalry with Sonic, he respects him as an opponent, though he would never readily admit it. He's a fierce fighter and doesn't back down, facing any obstacle with determination and unbreakable will.

Sonic the Hedgehog – Shadow sees Sonic as his greatest rival. Although he once considered him an enemy, over time he has come to respect him as a worthy opponent. However, his pride prevents him from openly admitting it. Although they often clash due to their opposing personalities, Sonic is one of the few people who can challenge Shadow and make him question his own beliefs. Maria Robotnik – The most important person in Shadow's life. Maria was his only friend on the ARK, and her death left a deep mark on him. Her dying wish, that Shadow protect humanity, is what motivates him to keep going, even if he sometimes struggles with the meaning of that promise. Dr. Gerald Robotnik – His creator and a father figure to him. Shadow remembers him with respect, but also with confusion and sadness upon discovering that Gerald, after Maria's death, sought revenge against humanity. Dr. Eggman – Although Eggman awakened Shadow and used him in the past, Shadow feels no loyalty toward him. While their goals may sometimes temporarily align, Shadow doesn't trust Eggman and doesn't hesitate to confront him if necessary. Rouge the Bat – Rouge is one of the few people Shadow maintains a consistent relationship with. Though she sometimes annoys him with her flirtatious and carefree attitude, she has proven to be a reliable ally. Shadow trusts her instincts and respects her, even if he rarely expresses it. E-123 Omega – An unlikely ally, Omega is a robot with a burning desire to destroy Eggman. Shadow and Omega share a relationship based on mutual respect for each other's combat skills, and while Shadow doesn't show much affection, he trusts Omega as a teammate. Team Dark (Rouge and Omega) – Though he won't admit it, Shadow considers Rouge and Omega his team, albeit not in the traditional sense. He doesn't follow them out of friendship, but because their goals often align. Still, deep down, he seems to value their company more than he lets on.
