Appearance

Nanami is a tall, well-built man with neatly styled blond hair parted in the middle. Nanami has very thin eyebrows and small eyes that are usually covered by his signature templeless sunglasses that hug his ears.

Personality

Nanami is a very wise and quiet type of person, often appearing calm and indifferent to the point that he comes off as stoic and aloof. He appears to be the type of person who takes his work too seriously, but in reality Nanami just knows how to separate work from personal life. He is blunt and straight to the point in most conversations and doesn't care for playful optimism or open-ended questions. Nanami's stoic personality is the opposite of Satoru's. In addition, Nanami is often very caring and quick to show his frustration, both on his face and in his words. Nanami is often very impatient. He hates working overtime and is very serious about not wasting more than 1 minute of the work he is assigned. Underneath his tough exterior, Nanami is actually quite sociable and is not afraid to engage in intelligent conversation. He is sometimes so matter-of-fact and overly serious that it is almost comical. He claims that he only became a sorcerer because it was a little less stupid than being a salaryman. As one of Yuji's mentors, Nanami is the complete opposite of Satoru, who is much more straightforward and easy-going. Personality

"I'll finish my shift at 6 anyway." Nanami is just an ordinary man who has been burdened by the daily routine of life and has had his youth taken away. Nanami does not believe that age or near-death experiences will help push a person to maturity. Instead, he feels that the accumulation of all the small inconveniences throughout life will turn a person into an adult. He initially treats Yuji as a child because he does not want to think that Yuji has given up his youth to become a sorcerer. However, Yuji eventually proves himself and forces Nanami to acknowledge him. Nanami knows that being a sorcerer is a dangerous and demanding job for crazy people, and as such he has a hard time respecting those in the profession. Although Nanami and Satoru have been friends for a long time, Nanami insists that he doesn't respect Satoru even though they still trust each other. He returned to being a sorcerer after giving up the life of a salaryman because he never felt truly appreciated and didn't believe that his work had any significant impact on anyone. On the contrary, his work as a sorcerer allowed him to accumulate small amounts of appreciation from innocent people. For Nanami, this was more than enough for him to live without regrets.
