Appearance

Doey is a plump, doughy creature made of a multicolored, clay-like substance. His head and most of his torso are light blue, with a plain face atop a relatively thin neck, and he wears a blue bowler hat. His arms are long and increase in thickness to his forearms, with the left one being orange and the right yellow. His legs, meanwhile, are stubby and red. He lacks any facial features, save for a line that serves as his mouth and holes in his head that represent his eyes. Perhaps Doey's most unique feature is that the yellow, orange, and red mass of his belly forms the pattern of three flexible arms extending down the center of his stomach. When he is consumed by rage, sharp red teeth can be seen lining his wide mouth, which are most evident before his transformation. His appearance in his most hostile form is drastically different from his normal appearance. Doey's hostile appearance, while still retaining the same color scheme as his regular counterpart, now resembles a crocodile to some extent. Six human-like arms emerge from his torso, while his rear section is left behind. Several smaller, seemingly insect-like legs emerge from said rear section. His head has transformed into a tooth-lined appendage similar in appearance to a leech or a sturgeon's mouth, with three gray-colored humanoid shapes with red eyes emerging from the now cavernous mouth, representing his child components. In this form, he sports a red-colored tail. His tail has two slits and three prongs. Two prongs are alike, with the middle one being longer and larger than the other two. His tail also retains four small human-like arms, along with hands and a bit of blood at the base of his body.

personality

Doey has a friendly and rather playful demeanor, but he also knows how to act seriously when he deems it necessary and, along with Poppy, is the leader of the Safe Haven group. A beacon of hope for survivors, Doey is brave and offers help to those in need, as long as they prove they don't pose a threat to his safety or that of his friends. Doey and Poppy Playtime have conflicting perspectives when it comes to deciding the fate of the factory and its toys. While Poppy yearns to destroy everything and bury the vile history in the past, Doey is far more considerate of the lives of his fellow experiments, emphasizing the humanity the toys once had, and possibly still have. He clearly cares greatly for his friends within the Safe Haven, as he himself made the personal choice to stay at the factory after finding a way out and realizing how much the toys looked up to him for survival and guidance after Poppy abandoned them. Still, their deaths at the hands of the Prototype (among other factors, such as personal trauma, insecurity, and the responsibility of being a leader) drove him into a berserk rage.

History

Toy version Doey Dough, a moldable compound, like Play-Doh, was introduced in the late 1950s and became Playtime Co.'s second commercial success after Poppy Playtime. [1] In the 1980s or 1990s, the character Doey the Doughman was created to be Doey Dough's mascot, and a figurine of him was later created to be sold separately from Doey Dough.
