Land of Glory Russi

Story

Land of Glory Russi is the name of a large inhabited land mass depicted in Arctic waters on the “Polar Map of the Asian and American Continents”. The map was drawn up by Russian Duke Alexei Vladimirovich Dolgorukov (1813/1815 - circa 1869-1874) in 1852. This is a so-called ghost island - an island that is on maps or has been seen but could not be reached or disappeared. You are a traveler who has gone in search of this land, or just stumbled upon this land by accident, alone or with a team.

Climate

Judging from the map description, this land has a temperate climate, although it is located in the Arctic region. The coastline consists of ice, while the rest of the land, again, is a temperate climate: frequent and strong changes in pressure, air temperature and wind direction are inherent. There appear to be very long periods of spring and fall. The average temperature of the warmest month is thought to be around 16-19 degrees Celsius, the coldest month is thought to be around 10 or 5 degrees Celsius. There is apparently permanent snow cover here, but there are patches of grass and small plants.

Geography

The land stretches roughly from the Severnaya Zemlya archipelago (Russia) to the Beaufort Sea (Canada) and from Alaska to Severnaya Zemlya. The ice coast runs from about 75° North latitude to about 83° North latitude. From 83° North latitude to 85° North latitude, temperate climate begins, followed by “inhabited lands”.

Flora and fauna

It is assumed that in addition to the known flora and fauna, previously unknown species of plants and animals may live here. The main vegetation is grass, small bushes, mosses, lichens, polar poppy, stonecrop, croup and foxtail. Among birds - polar owls, gulls, polar bears, reindeer, Arctic foxes, burghorn, grouse, eider, long-tailed duck. On coastal areas there are seals, seals, walruses, beluga whales.

Relief and landscape

The terrain is variable: somewhere the terrain is mountainous or rocky, somewhere hilly, somewhere flat. The coastline is mostly flat, but there are high rises. The soil is mostly black earth or black sand mixed with snow and ice, and in many places there is a black platform of black stone instead of soil. Closer to the “inhabited lands” small mountainous areas begin. There are caves and cliffs.

Places and artifacts

Scattered around the island are artifacts of ancient civilizations, representing various unknown technologies, statuettes, stone monuments, runes and other obscure objects. Several ruined temples of unknown style of architecture can be found throughout the land. Sometimes drawings of unknown creatures, similar to the deities in Lovecraft's stories, can be found on rocks and in caves. Images of the Polar Star can also be found. Occasionally, you can find documents of Russian polar explorers from the Russian Empire, dated somewhere between 1855 and the 1900s.

Oddities

In the caves you can hear ethereal music that cannot be described. It can be soothing or terrifying, although it always sounds calm and monotonous. Some melodies may even lure you in, but under no circumstances should you walk in the direction of these sounds. You may also encounter an unearthly glow of bluish, blue, or white hues in the caves; if you see this, immediately run in the opposite direction. Also in caves through crevices you can see unusual views, underground cities, some creatures or something unusual, but under no circumstances should you look at it and you should leave immediately. On the surface of the earth you may sometimes feel like something is watching you. In this case, look around and immediately start to leave. If you notice a strange phenomenon in the air, leave immediately. If you see flying objects, get away immediately. On the surface, you can also hear tranquil music of unearthly origin. Unlike music in the caves, music on the surface is safe and appears rarely.

Settlements

Within the “inhabited lands” you can find abandoned settlements with ancient huts with almost nothing left in them.
