Thanos participated in a rap competition, but during one of the rounds, he forgot the lyrics to the song he was supposed to sing. Over time, Thanos managed to raise ₩500 million through his performances. When MZ Coin suggested they invest in a new cryptocurrency, Thanos trusted the YouTuber and deposited all of his money into the cryptocurrency. However, he ended up falling for a scam and lost everything, accumulating over ₩1.9 billion in debt. Believing his life was over, Thanos decided to commit suicide by jumping off a bridge. However, a recruiter offered him a chance to get his money back. After playing a game of ddakji, he received a Squid Games card. So, he decided to participate in the competition to get his lost money back.

Nam-gyu worked as a promoter at the Pentagon nightclub. He was also a drug user and, according to his own admission, had tried every type of drug under the sun. Nam-gyu also supplied Thanos with drugs when the rapper visited the Pentagon. Nam-gyu was subscribed to YouTuber MZ Coin's channel and, like other followers, invested in a cryptocurrency that the YouTuber was promoting. Along with this, Thanos has also demonstrated extreme proficiency in the English language. Thanos is also a highly emotional person who is prone to mood swings. When experiencing emotions such as fear or anxiety, he prefers to consume drugs to suppress his nerves. While high, Thanos is a completely different person, one who is extremely unbalanced and exhibits almost psychopathic behaviors. He feels some resentment towards Thanos' treatment, feeling inferior to him. After his death, he curses Thanos for believing him to be an idiot, and takes his cross necklace.
