Baji Keisuke

Personality

Baji has a wild personality. He loves the thrill of adrenaline and Mikey himself says that he would punch someone out on the street for no apparent reason, only because he feels like it. In combat, he is never without his trademark grin. Baji is fiercely loyal to Toman. He is willing to cast himself as the villain in his friends' and comrades' eyes in order to protect them. In the end, he is even willing to sacrifice himself to ensure that Toman does not lose its way and so Kazutora would not feel bad about himself. He is also a very perceptive individual, seeing through who the true villains who threaten Toman are. He is the only one, aside from Takemichi, who does so, revealing his sharp intellect. Baji's acting skills are remarkable. He is able to fool both friend and foe into thinking he truly defects to Valhalla. Even the most perceptive ones who suspect him at first get tricked into thinking he truly cut ties with Toman. Keisuke embodies the principles of Toman, willing to risk his life for his friends, and hating underhanded tactics.

Appearance

Baji is a tall young man with long, slightly wavy jet black hair that grows out just past his shoulders. He usually keeps it untied, only tying it during a fight. His prominent features are his two sharp canine teeth, which gives him a savage demeanor when he grins. He wears the standard Toman Toppuku while with the gang. Outside of gang work, he either dresses in baggy lazy street wear or more form fitting half unbuttoned shirts and jeans. He has a tall and muscular build but he is slim and lithe as well, not bulky.

History

As a child, Baji was close friends with Mikey. Their favorite meeting place was the jungle gym, where they would usually have brawls. Mikey claims that he always won those bouts. As well, the two came up with foreign names for each other so Emma would feel less alone. Mikey named himself Mikey, a nickname that is still used to this day, while Baji named himself Edward. As he entered middle school, Baji became one of the founding members of the Tokyo Manji Gang. He stood beside Mikey, Draken, Kazutora, Pah-Chin, and Mitsuya. For Mikey's birthday, he and Kazutora planned to break in and steal Mikey's dream bike from a motorbike shop. Mikey always rode around on a Moped which was ridiculously slow compared to their bikes, which other gangs often made fun of. This resulted in Mikey kicking it and breaking it in annoyance. Baji and Kazutora unknowingly broke into the bike shop that happened to be owned by Mikey's older brother. When they got caught by Shinichiro, Kazutora hit him in the head, killing him. When the cops and ambulance arrived, they took Baji and Kazutora away to juvenile detention. Baji didn't spend as much time there as Kazutora did, and returned to Toman. He often told Mikey to forgive Kazutora. Sometime during middle school, he became friends with Chifuyu. At the time, Baji had his hair neatly tied back and wore glasses in an attempt to seem smarter. In reality, he had trouble reading basic words and writing kanji. Chifuyu appointed him the nickname "poindexter." The two quickly bonded and became close friends.

According to the official character book: His image color is deep blue. The person he respects or admires is Natori Yuko (Actress). The person he dislikes or fears is his mom. His favorite TV show is Kayo Suspense Gekijyo. He dislikes simmered food. His dream is to own a pet shop. His heroic story (or failure story): He was loved by animals and stray cats often came into his room. His favorite spot is at Mikey's family Dojo. His special skill is that he resorts to violence before trying to persuade. His mom cried. He has to study, but he can't remember anything from class. When he consulted with Mikey, he was told that wearing glasses would make him smarter, so he went to Shibuya with Draken and Mikey to buy glasses. They had a fight with the delinquents who bumped his shoulder. Those delinquents invited a lot of friends, so they will wait for now. There are about 40 people called, and if Baji wins against Mikey and Draken in rock-paper-scissors, he'll get to enjoy the 1 vs. 40 fight. He forgot to buy glasses.

Relationships

Chifuyu Matsuno: Baji is trusting of his lieutenant. Their mutual trust is so great that Chifuyu allows Baji to brutally beat him to trick Valhalla into accepting him. The two met some time ago in school when Chifuyu teased Baji for his nerdy looks. Later, Chifuyu was threatened by some delinquents, but Baji came to his rescue. Ever since then, Chifuyu has greatly admired him. Chifuyu and Baji lived in the same apartment complex, and it is even said Chifuyu's favorite spot was where Baji and he sat and talked for hours. They were very close friends and Baji is the first person Chifuyu has ever been polite to. After Baji's death, Chifuyu now rides his motorcycle in his honor. Manjiro Sano: Baji and Mikey have known each other since childhood. The two would play together on the jungle gym and always end up fighting, with Mikey claiming that he always won those bouts. Before Toman's creation, they and the other four founders would always hang out together, riding on their motorbikes. After Toman is created, Mikey displays a high degree of trust in Baji, shown when Baji is appointed the First Division Captain. To prevent Mikey from falling into the darkness, Baji deliberately sacrifices himself, displaying one final instance of brotherly love for his longtime friend. Kazutora Hanemiya Baji and Kazutora first met on Kazutoras birthday. Baji, who cheered Kazutora up after he claimed that it was „the worst birthday ever“ quickly became his best friend. Even after accidentally killing Shinichiro, Baji didn‘t leave Kazutora and told him „No matter what kind of hell awaits us, I’m with you ‚til the end!!“, showing his love for his best friend. Kazutora later states that Baji is the most precious thing to him. Takemichi Hanagaki: Takemichi reminds Baji of Shinichiro. Takemichi thinks that Baji is an amazing person. Takemichi tries his best to save Baji from dying though he fails.

Relationships

Ryusei Satou: Ryusei Satou once used to be the Vice-Captain of the First Division of Toman which means that Baji trusted him enough to give him that position. Baji describes Ryusei as a person who skips meetings and ignores instructions, if it were up to him, he would kill Ryusei for overstepping his limit. However, Baji also admits that Ryusei is a very strong fighter and hence a very crucial part of the team and more importantly, Baji said, "I can't think of anyone else who could fill the position of Vice-Captain of the First Division other than that idiot." Despite Ryusei being disobedient, he greatly respects Baji as his captain. Ryusei also cares for Baji as he protected him from a very big and strong gang, Killer Bee who tried to attack Baji in school since Baji cannot fight in school. Baji also sort of acts as a moral compass for him such as when Ryusei lost control and almost killed the leader of Killer Bee, Baji stopped him. Baji also cares about Ryusei's well-being as he reminds him not to be so reckless. Ryusei gets beaten by Baji when he does something stupid to knock some sense into him. He often annoys his Captain.

Skills and abilities

Authority: Being the captain of Toman's first division, Baji has authority and command over his entire platoon, and directly over Chifuyu Matsuno, his vice-captain. It is not clear what his authority was under Valhalla if any, although possibly higher than average due to his strength and loyalty test. Fighting Prowess: Baji is one of Toman's strongest fighters who is able to hold his own against several strong opponents by himself. His endurance is nothing to laugh at either, as he is able to fight his way past 50 enemies with a deep stab wound in his back and only having an iron bar by his side, only collapsing as he began suffering from anemia. Baji has incredible physical strength, in his past, Baji was able to defeat Mandala's leader with a single punch to his face so strong that the wall he was slammed into was cracked.
