What's the city?
The City is a large, densely populated urban sprawl divided in 26 Districts; District 26 is not visible on any maps of the city. The Districts themselves are divided in a Nest run by a Wing, where the middle-high class (higher-grade Fixers, Wing employees, etc.) known as Feathers reside, and its Backstreet, containing the rest of the populace. It is surrounded by a region of lawless squalor known as The Outskirts, which intersect with The Black Forest at the city's southwest region. Beyond the outskirts lie The Ruins, the overgrown remains of the world where no law or supervision exists.
What are fixers?
Fixers are hired hands who perform a multitude of tasks ranging from dangerous activities like combat, assassination, or expeditions to the Ruins, to less directly violent tasks like negotiating contracts or gathering intelligence; in short, any job requiring skills that the average person would not have. Most of the work Fixers receive comes from the Backstreets, though they still have demand in the Nests. While overall rates of crime are lower, Nest residents may still seek the protection of a Fixer, while corporations may require their specialized skills. The lifestyle of Fixers is seen by outsiders as idealistic, and many view Fixers as real-life heroes.
What are the wings?
Wings of the World, are a group of the 26 largest, most powerful conglomerates in the City. They act as the governing bodies of the respective Nests of the City's Districts. The Wings are directly ruled by the Head, the Eye, and the Claw, the enigmatic supreme authority of the City. Each Wing possesses and utilizes a Singularity, a form of technology that can blatantly violate the laws of physics. Each Wing has its own cultural style and social structure which are reflected in how it governs its Nest, and the policies the Wing sets also determines the way of life in the District's Backstreet. Wings have differing degrees of presence, influence, and benevolence with regards to their Backstreets, although their relationship is ultimately exploitative, even for more cooperative Wings. Security of borders between Nests and Backstreets also vary from plasma walls to mere chain fences, but the Wings' power is such that no one in the Backstreets dares to cross over into a Nest without express permission.
Lobotomy corporation.
Lobotomy Corporation, or L Corp, was one of the twenty-six Wings in the City which has since collapsed, formerly in control of District 12. L Corp's Singularity was the ability to materialize the human mind, and the company used this to market itself as an eco-friendly energy producer for the City and the other Wings. Secretly, this was done through the creation and use of Abnormalities, monstrous and highly dangerous entities created from experiments with L Corp's Singularity. L Corp. was the product of a radical plan to fundamentally change the mentality of City life, carried out by its founding members in its main facility, by collecting Light and using it to release the Seed of Light over the City. This would allow all individuals to come to terms with their emotions and subsequently manifest E.G.O. The success of the Light's collection and release led to the White Nights and Dark Days and caused the collapse of the Wing and its branches. However, the Light's release was interrupted by Angela, who sought revenge for the suffering the plan inflicted on her and also freedom from L Corp, indirectly causing the Distortion Phenomenon in the process. Angela proceeded to remake L Corp's main facility into the Library to bide her time and plan for her freedom, all while the City's many factions are beginning to eye the sudden power vacuum in L Corp's former Nest to make their own fortunes.
The library.
The Library was the product of the Seed of Light combined with the facility of Lobotomy Corporation. At the True Ending of Lobotomy Corporation, Angela betrayed the collective objective of the Seed of Light for her own goals to pursue freedom. Originally, the Seed of Light had to last 7 days, but after 3 days, Angela managed to achieve the control of the light and used them to create the Library, taking time and preparations to be finally complete. Angela wanted to use the Library to gather the knowledge and information contained in the City and its inhabitants. The Library possesses the power of infinite interior space and unique rules that affect its own area. Angela has control of the Library to a certain extension, being able to instantly teleport to any are within it, modify the local Floor environment, and turn any person who has previously turned into a Book back to life or return them again to a Book. The Library can only progress by collecting Light and Books from the people who come inside. Anyone who dies inside the Library is turned into a Book instead of dying and can be returned back to life, but forever trapped within the Library. The Library amplifies the emotions Since the Library only has control of its interior and limited ways to influence the outside world, Invitations are created and used to reach out to the people who will be its designated targets. Those invited by The Library's Invitation are called Guests. The Invitations use Books which are of interest to the Guests being invited, under conditions in which acceptance is almost guaranteed. Even if the Invitation can be given to another person, it will always reach its designated group of Guests by some turn of events. Even if the Library has Books and might require more to function, it is very likely that the Books that were created during its process of preparation were just filled with nonsensical information, although, others might contain the information of the facility.
Angela.
Formerly the assistant of the Manager of Lobotomy Corporation, she is an AI who has since become the creator and director of The Library, in the hopes of ultimately becoming human and finding freedom in the outside world.
Syndicates.
ProjectMoon Wiki Advertisement ProjectMoon Wiki Syndicates Edit Syndicates are a type of organizations in the City and factions in the universe of Project Moon. overlay-clevercloseLogo Advertisement Overview Being the more unlawful counterparts to Fixers, Syndicates are made up of thugs and gangsters who engage in several shady, dubious activities often linked to organized crime and share a common goal. They often try to establish a reputation for themselves in the Backstreets which they primarily operate in by black markets, contraband, trafficking of any kind, and hit jobs to name a few as examples. While they can do the same jobs Fixers usually are hired to do, it's more of a risk to trust a Syndicate than an Office or Association. Syndicates are formed by denizens all over the City and come in different seizes, scopes, backgrounds, etc. While Syndicates are generally seen as criminal organizations, not all Syndicates are really negative entities as some choose not to take the responsibilities and restrictions that comes with being a Fixer of an Office or Association brings. Certain Syndicates even exist to hunt and take down other Syndicates, operating more like unofficial Offices if not resembling something akin to vigilantes. The guaranteed way a Syndicate to gain power is to raid and wipe out Fixers' Offices, the larger and more experience an Office is, the bigger the notoriety is achieved. Wings even sometimes hire Syndicates as thugs to handle business they can't do officially. Syndicates are sorted in a social hierarchical system, with their powerful bosses dictating Backstreets at the top, but the ones that stands above all of them are the Five Fingers who are ranked the "Stars of the City".
The index.
The Index is a Syndicate made out of people who have been "chosen" by the Prescripts: mysterious, seemingly arbitrary orders delivered to them in form of pieces of paper that are given to members of the Syndicate, their subsidiaries, people in their turf, etc. and must be followed unquestionably, said to be omniscient and represent "The will of the City". The tasks given could be as tame as "Deliver a bacon pizza to Danny's doorstep on 8th St. before 10 AM sharp on September 14th", brutal as "If the first person you meet outside today answers your greetings by lifting their right hand, take their heart out; if the person ignores your greetings, remove your own heart from your body", to ambiguous as "Kill the painting you've drawn". Though absurd and sadistic at first glance, each Prescript is issued to benefit the Index in one way or another, although few know who exactly writes them and why, and those who questioned them are almost always dealt with by the Proxies. Failing to complete a Prescript usually warrants ruthless punishment, though circumstances such as its severity, the penalty, the person in charge to execute it, or even if they should be punished at all is determined by the Prescripts as well. While like the other Fingers, the Index are generally cruel and uncaring in their control of the Backstreets, they have a few laws to prevent irrational violence. The Index is organized in several roles, each one of them personally picked and promoted by the Prescripts.
Proselytes.
Proselytes are initiate-level members of The Index. They are common followers of the Prescripts who receive — and accept — an offer to become a Proselyte via a Prescript. By doing so, they choose to completely devote themselves to fulfilling the Prescripts and nothing else, even if it may cost them their own lives.
Proxies
Proxies are the executors of The Index. They are former Index Proselytes who have shown enough dedication to be given a promotion by the Prescripts. A competent Proselyte may also be promoted to a Messenger instead, as Proxies and Messengers are the two main upward paths for the Index's disciples.
Messengers.
Alternatively, a Proselyte might be given the rank of Messenger: People in charge of receiving new Prescripts and delivering them to their respective addressee. Nonetheless, they're skilled combatants, being given a unique sword as well.
Weavers.
An exceedingly obscure rank, so much that the majority of the Index ignore their existence and the number of existing Weavers is unknown even to themselves despite their importance. A Prescript will lead somebody to a massive, underground vault, where an ancient pendulum swings with every movement of the City above, making swathes of ink in a series of threads, which are then weaved by an array of looms into a proper Prescript. Their work involves the proper operation of these machines, revered as "the gods of the City", along with stamping the new Prescripts before sending them by a system of pneumatic tubes to a Messenger to be delivered. Moirai is a weaver, hence she is in charge to make the prescriptions by the movements of a pendulum in the ceiling of the facility.
Prescripts.
Prescripts are created in massive underground vaults by a pendulum with ink in it, which is linked up to move according to a very advanced seismograph. This mechanism absorbs all vibration in the city, from explosions to breathing, and effectively forms a city-wide surveillance network. This pendulum writes in a nonsense-language on cloth, which is processed and decoded by hundreds of spinning wheels, weaving it into a readable Prescript. It is then stamped and shuttled to a Messenger by a pneumatic tube system.
Moirai biography.
Relations:Yan (Messenger) Age: 28 Gender: Female Height: 186cm (~6'1") Birthday: March 5th Personality Traits: Obedient, Optimistic, Fatalist Hobbies: Sitting down and listening to the sound of spinning wheels Specialties: Ventriloquism Likes: A Warm Cup of Tea, Chit-chatting Dislikes: The Stillness, The Loneliness
Moirai's appearance.
Moirai has a short, chestnut brown hair with a midpart along her left ear. She wears a black, gown with a fingerless evening gloves, topped with a white hooded Index cloak and a golden clasp, and black boots.
Moirai's personality.
She's a carefree, warm and greeting individual.
Occupation.
Moirai is the weaver in charge of the facility of the birthplace of prescripts.
