Huggy Wuggy is a toy produced by Playtime Co. and a secondary antagonist in the Poppy Playtime franchise, debuting in Chapter 1: "A Tight Squeeze" as the main antagonist. In Chapter 1: "A Tight Squeeze", Huggy Wuggy is initially introduced as a living entity created in 1990 under the Bigger Bodies Initiative. After the Player returns to the Playtime Co. Factory, he is depicted as a statue located in the factory's Main Lobby. However, once the Player restores power to the entire facility, Huggy mysteriously disappears. Throughout the chapter, Huggy makes occasional, brief appearances until he finally reveals himself and begins chasing the Player during the intense Ventilation Chase sequence. Near the end of the chapter, he is seen diving deep into the factory's abyss, presumably dead. During Chapter 3: "Deep Sleep", Huggy Wuggy makes a minor appearance as an antagonist. While trapped in a hallucination caused by CatNap's gas, The Player discovers a VHS tape greeting new employees. As the tape plays, the game forces The Player to watch as a distorted, nightmarish version of Huggy emerges from the screen and begins chasing them. He quickly catches them and scares them, causing them to wake up from their nightmare. At the end of Chapter 4: "Safe Haven", Huggy appears, injured, after the Player watches the security tape, revealing that he survived the fall from Chapter 1, beaten and injured, as he runs around angrily and tries to attack the Player for trying to kill him, indicating his quest for revenge against the Player. Originally marketed as a toy intended solely to provide platonic love through hugs, the Huggy Wuggy was designed to hug children in need, with warm characteristics.

This was exemplified on June 18, 1992, when Huggy went on a rampage after being attacked with darts. He was known to be "obedient" as long as no aggression was directed at him, which was explicitly stated in Log 08502. However, under the influence of the Prototype, Huggy transformed into a ruthless genocidal entity driven by his given goals, unchecked and mercilessly killing anyone who stood in his way. When the Player returned in 2005, Huggy strictly followed the objectives given by the Prototype. His job was to watch over and protect the Playtime Co. factory, alerting others to the presence of new intruders. Huggy adopted a stealthy approach, stalking the Player until finally confronting them with a lethal hug. When the two meet again at the end of Chapter 4: "Safe Haven". Huggy furiously pounds on the door separating him from the Player and roars at them, indicating that he is absolutely furious over what the Player did to him and is determined to get revenge.

History Before poppy playtime Huggy Wuggy was created by Playtime Co. in 1984, and quickly became a huge success and one of Playtime Co.'s many signature toys. A female counterpart, Kissy Missy, was created in 1985. In 1990, Playtime Co. began the Bigger Bodies Initiative, conducting several unethical and highly illegal experiments on the orphans living at Playcare, an example of which being Huggy Wuggy, who was known as Experiment 1170. His purpose was to function as part of the factory's security,[1] while spending his days posing as a statue in the main lobby. In March 1991, Huggy Wuggy was noticed by visitors staring at them. Rowan Stoll reported his complaints to Leith Pierre on the 30th, believing someone may have placed nanny cameras in Huggy Wuggy's eyes. On May 28, Rowan sent an apology to Leith, explaining that a maintenance worker told him the eyes were not locked in place, giving the illusion that they were moving. [2] [3]

Disappearance incident At 10:27 PM on June 18, 1992, Experiment 1170 managed to escape from the Playtime Co. factory through an open delivery door. Two employees witnessed his quick escape and raised the alarm. He traveled about half a mile from the factory before a survival team was dispatched at 10:30 PM. An employee, likely an adult male, was driving through the woods in an attempt to catch up with 1170 by driving to the railroad tracks that covered much of the land surrounding the factory. He stopped quickly when he came across a creature roaming the woods. Aggressively and quickly, Huggy threw himself straight at the windshield of the car, scaring the man into attempting to shoot Huggy with tranquilizer darts. The man successfully shot Huggy, but died at his hands in the process.

At 10:38 PM, the security team began blocking and surrounding 1170 at a railroad crossing. Catching up with Huggy, they successfully shot him with a tranquilizer dart in his left leg. Unfortunately, he escaped back into the woods. The security team then fanned out using their increased four-mile search radius. However, their radios became unreliable as they were outside the effective zone. At 11:33 PM, an unknown security worker wandered into the woods, finding the fresh corpse of a deer. They then heard cracking and popping sounds before presumably killing them. Later, the worker's camera would capture Huggy Wuggy screaming loudly in the woods. At 3:38 AM, a camera captured Huggy Wuggy standing motionless in front of a suburban home. of Huggy Wuggy appearing, looking at them Huggy would later be captured and brought back to the factory more than five hours after his escape. Five workers were dead and six were missing. After the incident, Leith Pierre wrote a document explaining how 1170 escaped from the factory through the ventilation, stating that it was just blind luck that he was caught before being seen by anyone else. He concluded his document saying that neither he nor the Department of Innovation were happy with what had happened that night. These events would be documented in a restricted VHS tape and a security report.[4]

On August 8, 1995, half a decade after the Prototype's disappearance, an emergency warning was broadcast on all televisions and electronics at the Playtime Co. factory. It was stated that all employees were to go into hiding while the wave of experiments against Playtime Co. began. It is heavily implied that it began with Huggy Wuggy being influenced by the Prototype to mindlessly kill all the employees in the Main Lobby. This was all depicted on the VHS recording Hour of Joy, which recorded clips of Huggy Wuggy and several other toys, such as Mommy Long Legs, the Ruined Critters, Miss Delight and her sisters, Kissy Missy, Boxy Boo, and CatNap, in that order as shown on the tape. Project: Playtime Main article: Huggy Wuggy (Project Playtime) After the catastrophic events of The Hour of Joy, Leith Pierre emerged as one of the few known survivors. Driven by his determination to continue the Bigger Bodies Initiative, Leith Pierre began sending "Resource Extraction Specialists" in groups of six at a time to the Playtime Co. factory, where unbridled toys roamed freely. Their mission was to recover artifacts related to the Bigger Bodies experiments, despite the threatening risk of facing potential death. Ultimately, this project would prove futile, as canonically, the employees would be killed by the toys and fed to the lesser Bigger Bodies experiments, such as the Wuggies and Ruined Critters.

During the Monster Tutorial, it is revealed that Huggy Wuggy plays a vital role as one of the select toys designated by the Prototype to provide sustenance to the lesser experiments. After the company stopped sending Specialists, leaving the factory closed forever, Huggy and the other experiments were left without a source of food. Desperate and out of options, he and the other larger experiments began eating the smaller toys to survive. Huggy continued to live in the abandoned factory for the next decade until the Player's return in 2005. During Poppy's play Chapter 1: "A Strong Grip" Huggy first appears when the player enters the main lobby after unlocking security, where they obtained the GrabPack and its Blue Hand. When attempting to open a locked door that required the Blue Hand, the power goes out. However, Huggy can now be seen with an unexpected yellow key hanging from his "fingers". This key opens the Power Room, which requires a simple electrical current towards two nodes. This can be done using the electrically conductive wires from the GrabPack.

After restoring power to the main hall, Huggy Wuggy mysteriously disappears from his podium. Huggy continues to chase the player as they make their way through the factory. During this time, Huggy is briefly seen twice. The first time, his arm is seen sticking out of the door in the Make-A-Friend hallway after the main hall. Later, he is seen again in the warehouse peering through one of the vents before closing it when the player goes to the balcony for the second time. When the player activates the power in the Make-A-Friend room. To progress, they must create their own Swap-imals toy, which serves as a keycard to unlock a sealed door. Upon opening the door with the Cat-Bee toy, they enter a dark hallway to exit. Unfortunately, Huggy Wuggy suddenly emerges from the dark hallway and begins chasing them. This forces the player to escape Huggy by entering the Conveyor Belt System. As they navigate the labyrinthine ventilation system, Huggy Wuggy chases them, mimicking their every move. Eventually, The Player reaches a pair of catwalks where Huggy viciously pounds on the closed ventilation door. However, as Huggy breaks through the door, he becomes trapped under a large crate knocked over by his prey, sending them both tumbling to the catwalk below. Although The Player manages to land safely on the catwalks, Huggy falls into the depths of the Playtime Co. Factory after colliding with a series of large pipes, spraying blood all over them. It was speculated that Huggy died, but he is believed to have survived; after Huggy presumably lands in the Water Treatment zone, he bandages his wounds and wanders through the factory until he meets The Player again in the

Skills and Anatomy When walking, Huggy has a stiff but agile and strangely organic gait. He is able to enter incredible bursts of speed, using his long arms and legs to propel himself forward. While crawling through the vents behind the Player, Huggy is able to bend and contort his body to fit through tight spaces. Before the Player drops the crate on Huggy on the walkway, he can be seen running towards them on all fours, much like an ape. Due to his impressive height of 18 feet tall, he possesses a size advantage against ordinary humans. During the chase through the vent, Huggy is able to cut through and keep up with the Player navigating the ventilation system. He also exerts formidable brute strength, capable of damaging and knocking down barriers, including those constructed of metal. Huggy is mentioned to possess a digestive system. In Log 08502, Huggy was briefly mentioned as Experiment 1170, and was dubbed the most suitable subject as he possesses the ideal amount of intelligence and is obedient to the scientists working at the company. As indicated by his injuries in Chapter 4, Huggy appears to be durable and have basic first aid knowledge, able to survive a fall into the depths of the Playtime Co. Factory despite being injured, bandage himself, and even contain what appears to be his gushing "intestines" with little advanced medical technology. This trait is also seen with Kissy Missy.

Huggy Wuggy is a tall, slender creature covered in thick, bright blue fur. His arms and legs are disproportionately long, ending in large, yellow hands and feet. His hands have large Velcro straps on the palms, and both his hands and feet have four digits, including his thumbs, although they are merely dots and are incapable of moving individually (with the exception of his thumbs). His torso is stocky and disproportionately small compared to his long limbs. His head is large and contains two large, dilated black eyes. On his face are huge, cartoonishly bright red lips. He also wears a thin blue bow tie around his neck.

His monster counterpart remains largely the same, with the exception of his eyes being dilated more than intended, giving him a disturbing and unsettling appearance. Behind his lips is a mouth with dozens of jagged, needle-like teeth. A closer look at Huggy's mouth reveals a secondary set of jaws located near his throat, similar to that of a moray eel, resembling human teeth. (Using the height and weight of the tallest man, Robert Wadlow, at 8'11 and 439 pounds, and his BMI of 27, Huggy Wuggy's height and weight can be estimated to be around 18'0 and 1795 pounds.) Chapter 3: "I Am Deep" His nightmare form is similar to that of the original Huggy, but he is now much taller, his face is more crooked, his blue fur is much darker, his mouth has been elongated, and the sides on top of his head are shaped into devilish horns. He has two black eye sockets in place of his eyes, and his teeth are longer and thinner, while he lacks the second row of teeth at the back of his throat. The rest of his body remains the same, but his hands and feet now have elongated, splayed fingers and toes that resemble claws.

Chapter 4: "Safe Haven" As a result of the fall in Chapter 1, Huggy has gained noticeable injuries to several areas of his body; a portion of the left side of his head is missing, his lower left arm is completely missing, and parts of his fur are missing, revealing his "bones" or lack thereof, which appear to have been sewn together with pieces of rope. He also has what appear to be thin white bandages wrapped around his chest, right arm, and left leg. His bow tie can also be seen on the stump of his left arm.
