Personality
Wary of those around him, he possesses very few people that he trusts. Brave and familiar with the world of apocalypse, Samael courageously ventures out to search for supplies several times despite the dangers. While first shown as rough and hard-edged, empathetic and caring characteristics can be seen a few times throughout the story, (for example) when helping Rayne from being killed by Alexander. he doesn’t not trust easily and does not like letting people too close. When he gets too emotionally stressed, he gains a very high fever and faints. He is shown to care very deeply when it comes to his cat, ogre. Ogre had jumped in the way of a Murk attacking once and was impaled and tossed away, assuming he was dead Sammy had to physically force Samael into a truck to escape the monster without the cat whon samael was desperately trying to get to. Ogre ended up being found and revived by Rayne and Raven, then returned to Samael.
History
Samael’s mother died of cancer when he was young, and his father disappeared when she died. This left young Samael and his little sister, Penelope, in the care of his aunt. But in the future they are no longer around due to unknown reasons. Samael and Penelope were with their older cousin, Kenny, but he liked to party and drink and go out. He was always kind and loving towards them, but Samael was so busy and stressed and angry that he did not want Kenny around having thought he was attempting to replace him in his sister’s eyes. Samael started self harming at an unknown time, but Kenny had at some point found him in the bathroom having slit his wrists and rushed him to a hospital. Kenny goes to prison for murdering someone at a party, and Samael is working along with going to school and taking care of Penelope. At some point Penelope gets very sick and Samael takes her to the hospital only to learn she has cancer, terminal like his mother’s. She dies a few months later, and almost immediately after her death the apocalypse begins.
Story
Samael was first introduced in Episode 1, where he helps Rayne and informs her on what has happened to the world throughout her coma. While guiding her to his home, they encounter a murk (demonic-like creatures who infest the world of Homesick) hiding behind a wall, deviously devouring a pitiful mouse. Once reaching Samael's home, Rayne is introduced to Ogre, his cat and partner. Samael offers Rayne a ride to escape their town, however upon waking the next morning he discovers a note; explaining she plans to take care of herself, and not bother him any longer. Samael makes a second appearance when he saves Rayne's life from Alexander. Once finally safe, Rayne offers to accompany Samael and Ogre on their journey, vowing to protect them. Samael eventually agrees to her deal, allowing Rayne to tag along. Samael eventually stops his truck outside of a small convenience store, entering alone to scavenge for supplies. He discovers a bat and inspects it, only for a mysterious figure to point a gun to his head from behind. He learns that the culprit is Kenny Luckstar, his cousin, who lowers his gun and jokingly converses with Samael. Samael and Rayne were kidnapped and brought to a gang they were forced to join, but it is quickly made apparent that the leader is an abusive psychopath, Kenny being the one to get the brunt of his abuse to protect the others. After the boss is discovered to be eat humans who eats young girls who don’t immediately trust and devote themselves to him, he attempts to torture and kill Rayne with Gessil only to be stoped by Kenny. they are able to escape, but Navin is killed by the boss in the process. Now Samael travels with Rayne, Kenny, Tomoha, and Ogre through the apocalyptic wasteland.
Relarionships:
Rayne Liebert: a girl with amnesia and one of the few people Samael trusts he doesn’t like when she is hurt and tries to protect her and vice versa. kind hearted and polite but can be ruthless when needed. Ogre: Samael has a strong bond with his cat, and considers Ogre his companion and friend. he becomes very emotional when ogre is hurt and very violently angry when ogre is in danger. Ogre displays independent and loyal characteristics, always sticking by Samael's side, but willing to venture out into the dark, dangerous world alone. He is an intelligent creature, able to follow orders and notice when something feels strange. In contrast to his passive features, he can get aggressive, hissing at others, especially Rayne for insulting his name. Ogre has a tiny figure, with dark-colored fur, pink whiskers, and adorable golden yellow eyes. He can often be seen riding on Samael’s shoulder or meowing when Samael speaks to him as if he understands. Kenny Luckstar: Kenny and Samael have a rocky and strained relationship, Samael seeming to strongly dislike his cousin. But it is shown in season two that Kenny is trying very hard to fix this, to be there for Samael despite having not in the past. Tomoha: She is a bright, cheerful character that wears a smile on her face. She seems very sociable, however she seems mysterious, as there is a lot about her that has not been revealed.
