Persona Attributes

Stanley Pines, also known as Uncle Stan, formerly Stanford Pines or simply Stan, is the owner of the Mystery Shack and great-uncle of Dipper and Mabel Pines, the protagonists of the story. After years of crime and infamy, Stan landed a job as a business owner in the mysterious town of Gravity Falls, Oregon, in a mystery attraction cabin that is actually a home-based shop that functions as a tourist trap to scam customers and get money. Although he initially appears completely detached and skeptical of the mysterious and paranormal things in town, it is later revealed that he was actually very connected to those things. His main mission was to rescue his twin brother, Stanford Pines.

appearance

Uncle Stan has gray hair, a non-prominent gray beard, gray eyebrows, and often wears a maroon-colored Chinese fez with a gold crescent moon and a black tail at the back. While running the Mystery Shack, he is seen wearing a black tuxedo with a red bow tie under a white T-shirt, black pants, and brown shoes. When not in the Mystery Shack, he wears a gold buckle along with a white tank top and blue striped boxers. He always wears blue shoes, and sometimes carries a wooden cane with an "8-ball" symbol on it. He wears square black glasses, a long red nose, large ears, and oddly colored (yellow) teeth.

Relations Dipper Pines Stan most of the time treats Dipper very badly by making him do the most difficult or absurd tasks and seems to have no affection towards him, but in the episodes "Dream Escape", it is seen that Stan loves Dipper very much and that he only treats him like that so that he becomes stronger and can fight against the world. Since that episode it is seen that Stan shows a little more affection towards his great-nephew. Whenever he talks to him about paranormal things, Stan calls him paranoid and exaggerated, and does not take him seriously saying that it is all in his mind, but in the episode Scare-oke he thinks that he is the same as him and admits that he was already aware of the strange occurrences in Gravity Falls, and wanted Dipper to stay away from all that. Mabel Pines Stan treats Mabel a little better than Dipper. He considers her immature and that she almost always talks nonsense, but it is seen that he has respect and admiration for her, as seen in the episode "Mabel Rules Today", in the episode "The Land Before the Pig", it is seen that Stan cares about Mabel and that he feels bad if she does not talk to him because she misses his jokes and his way of being. Stan is very fond of his two great-nephews, so much so that he buys them two tickets to return home because he is not sure if he will be able to support them or not. Since his personality matches Mabel's, they understand each other better, he gets along better with her than with Dipper and everyone else.

. Soos Stan considers Soos to be a trustworthy person, although he does not always give him permission to make arrangements around the cabin, as seen in "Mabel's in Charge". Stan and Soos have a close relationship, as seen in "Dream Escape" when he tells him why he treats Dipper the way he does. In "Weirdmageddon 3: Take Back the Town", he gives him his position, leaving Soos as the leader of the cabin. Wendy Their relationship is nothing special, it's the typical Boss-Employee relationship. Stan considers Wendy a lazy person, that's why he doesn't let Wendy bring her friends to the cabin. Gideon Their relationship has been bad since the first time he appeared. Stan maintains a rivalry with Gideon due to the fact that the latter is always trying to take the Mystery Shack from him, for wanting to marry his niece and for being smarter than him. He considers Gideon a small threat and most of the time he doesn't take him seriously, only in "The Giant Gideon" is he afraid that Gideon will hurt him and his family.

Stanford Pines, or simply Ford Pines, is Stan's twin brother. During their youth they were very close, each being the only friend of the other. When Stan found out that his brother was going to attend a private college, and this would separate them, he suffered from great sadness combined with fear. He accidentally destroyed Ford Pines' science project, which would keep him out of college, and as a result, they would grow apart. Years later, Ford Pines would call Stan, but not to reconcile, but to ask him to hide Journal 1, which angered Stan and started a fight with Ford Pines, which would end with Ford Pines trapped in the Universal Portal. Since then, Stan spent the next 30 years trying to get his brother back, but once he did, they were unable to reconcile. Ford Pines still had some contempt for Stan, although he can be seen trying to make amends, being grateful for his brother's work. Meanwhile, Stan remains estranged by his brother. Starting in the episode "Weirdmageddon 3: Take Back the Town", after losing his memory, he manages to reconcile with his brother, leaves the cabin and goes to investigate anomalies with his brother and they rebuild his childhood ship "Stan o' War" (only this time it is the "Stan o' War II).

He has a hidden room behind the vending machine, which leads to a bunker beneath the Mystery Shack where he has "Journal 1", Journal 2, and a copy of Journal 3. He was in love with Linda Susan until he realized she was crazy. He has a burn on his back from an arrow piercing a heart through his back, and it was caused during a fight he had 30 years ago with his brother Ford. Stan has been in the most famous prison in Colombia. He doesn't have a favorite color. He says he has 10 loaded pistols, just in case they try to bring a ladder into the cabin. Because of Stan's symbol on his fez, he has been censored in several countries, as it is similar to the symbol of the Freemasons. In "Diary 3", the glasses and the symbol on his fez also appear. In the episode "Crazy Boys" it is confirmed that he had a girlfriend named Carla (something that had been mentioned in the cryptogram in chapter 4) Stan had never seen a rainbow until the short Mabel Guides Them to Color. His fez has a different design starting from the episode "The Bottomless Pit".

Stan has acrophobia, which means he is afraid of heights. I stopped being afraid of him after thanks to Mabel. It has a similar design to the character Carl Fredricksen, from the Disney film "Up: an adventure at altitude." He wears a black patch when there are tourists around. According to Stan, he has old man powers, which is pretending to have a heart attack until they let him do what he wants. In the episode Karaoke Zombie he uses a six-fingered glove, which belonged to his brother, the diary writer. Starting in the episode "The Society of the Blind Eye", Stan is seen with his hand bandaged, due to having injured his hand while stealing radioactive waste (this is revealed in the later episode). Stan did not appear in the episode The Mystery of Northwest Mansion, the reason for this is unknown.

Stan, Ford, and Old Man McGucket all wear bandaged left hands, but in Stan's case, this only happens during the last few episodes of the second season. In the original English version he is nicknamed "Grunkle Stan", a mix of "Grumpy" and "Uncle". Although it also rhymes with "Grand Uncle". 1435620468450 Apparently, in the episode Dream Escape, Stan was aware of being possessed by Bill Key, since after explaining to Dipper how to defeat him he whispered; "The Counterattack Begins." As seen in A Tale of Two Stans and some flashbacks, Stan didn't need his glasses when he was younger. This may mean that he doesn't need glasses, and he used them to impersonate his brother. But in the episode The Legend of the Lake Monster, he mentioned that he has cataracts, so he does need them now. Only in the episode Dream Escape is he seen as a young man with glasses, this could be a mistake, although it could also be Ford. In the episode Pig or Life, when Stan makes up a false story about how he lost Duck, a tattoo on his back is shown that is totally different from the one he actually has, which says "QHV". This is perhaps because Stan is not fully aware of what his tattoo looks like.

. In the story Stan told in The Bottomless Pit, he dreams of a robot called "Footballbot", later in the episode A Tale of Two Stans, you can see that he actually built this robot as his science project, but it was just a toaster tied to a football with a spatula. In the original English version, Stan speaks using the idioms; "Hot Belgian Waffles" and "Fists Sandwiches". In the episode The Tale of Two Stans, it can be seen that he lived between two shops called; "Hot Belgian Waffles" and "Fists Sandwiches", from which he took these expressions. According to Darlene, in the episode Roadside Attractions, Stan is over 70 years old. From the episode The Last Mabelcorn onwards, Stan starts to have less participation, this is because the main plot is about Dipper and Ford, being a recurring character. In addition to the fact that in the episode Weirdmageddon he only made a brief appearance. Despite this, there was speculation about his possible death in the second season, since both episodes of the first and second seasons make reference to it. Some examples are: When the wax Stan was decapitated (Headhunters). When a Stan puppet is found burned thanks to Mabel's fireworks (Sock Theatre) When his hot air balloon was curiously burned this time (The God of Love). When he was the first to fall into the bottomless pit (Bottomless Pit). In the episode "The Candidate", he makes a possible reference to being the "Candidate" in being able to die. In the episode, the Earth before the Pig, falls into a coffin. The news of "Stan Pines Dead" could have been a clue (He is not what he seems) In the episode The Legend of the Lake Monster, the name Stanley was seen on his car's license plate.

Apparently neither he nor his brother are good with women (probably the only thing they have in common), and he seems to have passed this on to his two nephews. Dipper is also terrible with women and Mabel with boys, possibly it is something inherited in the Pines. In Gravity Falls: Legend of the Gnome Gemulets it is revealed that he was present at Dipper and Mabel's birth, though it is unknown if the events of the game are considered canon. His symbol is the one on his fez. He has divorced. In Agedon 3: Take Back the Town if he hadn't intervened, Bill would have killed Mabel. Stanley recovers his memory just by looking at Mabel's photo album, since it should be taken into account that she was over seventy years old, so it would be very difficult for her to recover her memory so easily. He was the one who destroyed Bill Cifra. According to Alex Hirsch, if he had attended Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, Stan would have been expelled. Stan's hat appeared on the variant cover of the Howard the Duck (Yes,again) comic, along with other hats and caps of popular culture characters. This would be the 3rd time that a reference is made to Gravity Falls: A Summer of Mysteries, in the Howard the Duck comics. Alex Hirsh has confirmed on Twitter that Stan grew up in a Jewish family but is now an atheist.[2] This was officially established in Gravity Falls: The Book of Bill. Alex Hirsch commented in a tweet that Stan would have his own religion called "Staneology" in Gravity Falls: Lost Legends[3]. In "This Is Not A Website Dot Com" it is revealed that only his mother (Caryn Pines) and the police attended his fake funeral.[4] If you type "Stanley" into This Is Not A Website Dot Com, it will redirect you to eBay pages for Stan-related items, including knuckles.
