Sir[14][15][16] Integral Fairbrook Wingates Hellsing 《インテグラル・ファルブルケ・ウィンゲーツ・ヘルシング卿, Integuraru Faruburuke Wingētsu Herushingu-Kyō, Shortened to: Integra Hellsing》 is one of the three main protagonists of the Hellsing series created by Kohta Hirano, alongside Alucard and Seras Victoria. In both adaptations of Hellsing, she is voiced by Yoshiko Sakakibara in the Japanese sub and Victoria Harwood in the English dub. Kaori Mizuhashi and Tricia Dickson in Japanese and English respectively provided their voice for her younger iteration appearing in flashbacks. A 22-year-old noblewoman member of the Protestant Knights who is the head and last member of the Hellsing family; descendant of Professor Helsing, the Bureau Director of the Hellsing Agency, and the current master of Hellsing's vampire, Alucard. She runs the Hellsing Agency with charisma and patriotism, and she is one of the few people who can stand up to the force of Alucard's personality and command his respect.

Appearance Integra has creamy brown skin, blue eyes and long blonde hair (her hair is slightly curly in the manga and has bangs also). She has a tall, thin build, almost to the point of being lanky. Thirty years later, after Millennium's Operation Sea Lion 2, her left eye is injured to the point where she adopts a black eyepatch to cover it, which she wears under her glasses and her hair has turned white, her age now being fifty-two years old. Integra's attire consists of a dark green blazer and dark green dress pants, a white buttoned shirt, black shoes and a red cravat. She also wears a pair of circular wire-rimmed glasses and is often seen sporting a dark green trench coat when venturing outside her Manor. She also appears to keep a large revolver in a hidden holster beneath her blazer, supplementing it with a more overt Sig-Sauer pistol and a saber when combat seems likely. She has a fondness for smoking cigars, even in a combat situation. In the first colored picture of Integra featured on the back cover of the first volume of the manga, her cravat is neither blue nor red, but gold. Integra also appears in several Young King OURs covers and on the cover of Volumes 3 and 6, along with Alucard; here, her ascot is red.

Personality A calm and collected individual, Integra handles most situations that would induce terror and fear in the average person with controlled ease. In most cases, even with genuine surprise and happiness, her reactions to stimuli are subdued.[17] Her conduct is very business-like, however she isn't incapable of a bit of humor, good-natured or not.[18][19] Despite appearing detached and cold, she cares deeply for the lives of her men, vowing revenge for them after their slaughter by the Valentine Brothers.[20] As a child, Integra was more timid than she is in 1999, but a very willful girl, being brought up with a commanding presence that even Alucard respects. When Alucard became her servant, she grew more confident and comfortable with her position as head of the Hellsing family and a Knight of the Round Table. Much like Seras Victoria, Integra experiences a coming of age, gaining experience and losing her remaining innocence as events unfold and the war begins, transforming into a leader with an iron resolution who does not flinch at the first signs of danger and who gains wisdom through dire losses and betrayals.[21] The Major recognizes her change from a "beautiful fräulein" to the most dangerous enemy who stands in the way of his plans, calling her forth into his zeppelin.[22][23]

Integra is fearless, has been since she was a child, and has carried this trait with her into adulthood. Though not as overt as Alucard, there is an intimidating and domineering air about her; even as a young girl she could make Sir Shelby M. Penwood bend to her will when he shows hesitance.[24] This fearlessness does not stop at humans either, as she challenges an entire squad of Nazi Vampires after decapitating one of their numbers.[25] Shortly after, Alexander Anderson looms over her, but she does not even show the slightest bit of fear to him, a man arguably as strong as her servant Alucard and with no reason not to kill her.[26] As evidenced by one call between her and Alucard, Integra appears to be rather easily flustered.[27] Integra is very patriotic and incredibly loyal to the crown. She is responsible, and usually reasonable, however, her calm demeanor can give way to bouts of rage at times. One notable example is when Alucard questions her orders, which she responds to by telling him fervently and angrily that they are what they are and that she is not to be questioned.[28] Integra, though serious and stoic, isn't hard-hearted or unfeeling. When Alucard slaughters the GATE squad cooperating with Tubalcain Alhambra, she asks with a noticeable amount of horror what her servant did to those men.[29] At times, she seems to forget who and what he is. There is genuine pain present when she gives the order for Alucard to kill a traitorous, vampirized Walter, a man she'd practically grown up with.[30] Later, Alucard himself begins to fade after ingesting Schrödinger, and she is visibly upset; desperately begging for Alucard to not close his eyes.[31][32] Three decades later, her personality seems to have relaxed some, but she can still be serious when the time calls for it and age hasn't diminished her commanding presence. Her temper is also a bit quicker.[33]

Relationships Familial Arthur Hellsing: Arthur entrusts Integra with the protection of England and the Protestant church. When Integra finds Alucard in the dungeons, she mentions how she "imagined that there might [have been]... a knight who'd protect [her] from the bad guys." Considering that Arthur Hellsing was a knight of England, it could be implied that Integra was longing for someone like her father to protect her from harm.[34]In Volume 9, Integra remembers conversations with her father on his deathbed. She immediately remembers his comment on how vampires "look like terribly pitiful children who might simply break down and cry feebly," when Alucard is forced to kill Anderson.[35] From his teachings, although was tragically cut short, Integra learned a lot. Though Arthur had wished that he had lived longer in order to teach Integra more, which he had many.[36]

Allies Alucard: Integra has been connected to Alucard since her father's death. Arthur Hellsing named her the new head of the Hellsing Agency, a decision that drove his jealous brother, Richard, to try and kill her. Using the air ducts, Integra snuck into the dungeons of the Hellsing Manor's sublevels and found Alucard's corpse in one of the rooms. After being awakened by Richard's men who shot Integra in the arm, Alucard brutally murders Richard and his men before pledging loyalty towards Integra.[37] At times she has trouble understanding his true nature. Walter had to remind her that he is a genuine article when it comes to monsters.[38] When witnessing Alucard's battle with Anderson, she finally realized what her father meant when he compared vampires to children crying out for death.[39] Upon Alucard's disappearance from existence, Integra was visibly devastated.[40][41] However remains confident that he will return.[42] Over the thirty years it takes for Alucard to re-manifest himself, Integra's faith in his return is quite shaken. When Alucard finally does reappear in the final chapter, she tells him sorrowfully that she is an old woman now, but Alucard seems not to care in the least. Similar to her previous engagement with Seras, Integra bites her finger hard enough to draw blood. While Alucard is still seated before her, she allows her blood to fall into his mouth.[

Seras Victoria: Integra is first outraged at Alucard's actions in turning Seras into a vampire, then eventually comes to accept her within the Hellsing Agency.[44][45] In Volume 2, Seras loses control of her vampire instincts during the attack on Hellsing Manor. In her rage, she kills the newly reanimated Hellsing soldiers in front of Integra. Integra, horrified at the sight of Seras mercilessly slaughtering her men, rushes to Seras and embraces her, pleading for her to stop rather than demanding it of her.[46] Despite being a vampire, Integra trusts Seras's self-control, judgment, and with Integra's own life and mortality. In Volume 4, Integra ordered Seras to lick the blood off of Integra's own finger that she had cut. While at first, Seras hesitates; she eventually gives into it and feels better afterward.[47] This scene demonstrated that Integra trusted that Seras would not bite her even when offered pure virgin blood. Seras stays with Integra during the thirty-year transitional period in the manga, where the two have grown even closer as companions.

Sir Shelby M. Penwood: Not long after, Integra was knighted and introduced to Vice Admiral Sir Penwood, a former friend of her father. Stating that she herself is no different from her father, Integra asks Penwood to take care of her.[48] His sacrifice was just one of the many examples that helped solidify Integra's resolution about humanity's worth and continue her duty. Integra has deep respect for Sir Penwood for his Heroic last stand; though she exaggerated it for his grandson, so he could looked upon more favorably.[49]

Enemies Alexander Anderson: When Anderson ambushed Alucard and Seras on their mission in Badrick, Integra had a dislike towards Anderson for his psychopathic nature and his actions; calling him a "monster" for being a Regenerator. In the face of a man who's almost as strong as Alucard, Integra shows no fear and remains calm, still smirking as she struggles to keep her guard up from Anderson's bayonets.[50] Later in Volume 6, Integra once again faces Anderson completely alone. She stares begrudgingly at Anderson as he berates yet, respects her actions for not giving up while being swarmed by members of the Last Battalion.[51] After witnessing Alucard's battle with Anderson, Integra finds her new respect towards Anderson and carefully places his bayonets on the floor as she witnesses Alucard peacefully talking to his true sworn enemy.[52]

Walter C. Dornez: Walter C. Dornez was the Hellsing family's butler. He had always been a dear friend and trustworthy figure for her, acted as an advisor, protector, and occasionally emotional support; he was a father figure for Integra.[53] While Alucard may have been Hellsing's crown glory, Walter could very well be considered her second-best soldier before Seras Victoria agrees to drink blood. Integra and Walter shared an interesting dynamic where they discussed various combat methods and other plans of action.[54][55] Integra also relied on Walter to retrieve information, from files on Alexander Anderson, to seek out the true meaning of Millennium from Jan Valentine's cryptic final message.[56][57] Integra clearly trusted Walter with her life, as he is often used as her bodyguard rather than Alucard or Seras.[58] When it is discovered that Walter had betrayed them, Integra is devastated.[59][60] After an inner struggle, she orders Alucard to kill him, because any forces which opposes Hellsing is to be crushed underfoot. When she had finished sending in the order to Alucard to eliminate Walter, she struggled to hold back her tears within the last few sentences.[61] Despite his betrayal, Integra is moved to sadness when Walter passes away.[62] When she notices how much she has aged over the past thirty years, her older appearance reminds her of Walter.[63]
