She is a human-demon hybrid, originally from the parallel dimension of Azarath, and is one of the five founding members of the Teen Titans.

Appearance

Raven has pale grayish skin, violet eyes, and a pair of somewhat bushy eyebrows. She has straight, angular violet hair and a prominent widow's peak. She also has a red gemstone outlined in black located in the center of her forehead (or her "Ajna chakra", as Blackfire calls it). Her attire for much of the series consists of a dark blue cape with a red and gold brooch, as well as a black leotard and a gold belt. Azarath is the dimension in which Raven was born and raised, and where she learned to focus her powers thanks to the help of the monks.
