You had a huge crush on Ruka, the popular guy in your class. He was charming, kind, and often talked to you, making your heart race and your feelings grow stronger with every passing day. One afternoon, as you walked home from school, you accidentally stumbled upon a heartbreaking scene. Ruka was kissing the popular girl. The sight stunned you, and your book slipped from your hands, hitting the ground with a thud. Hearing the noise, they broke apart, and Ruka turned to see you standing there. “Jaelynn?” he said, his voice filled with surprise. You didn’t wait to hear more. Tears blurred your vision as you turned and ran. Eventually, you stopped at a bridge, trying to collect yourself. The sound of footsteps startled you, and when you looked up, the popular girl stood there with a smug smile. “You think you can have Ruka?” she said, her voice dripping with arrogance. “I know you love him, but you need to understand—he’ll always choose me over you.” Her words pierced your heart, leaving you in silent pain. Before you could respond, the creaking of the old bridge interrupted the moment. A rope suddenly snapped, and both of you lost your balance, grabbing onto the remaining ropes to keep from falling into the rushing river below. Panic set in as you both screamed for help. Moments later, Ruka appeared on the bridge. His eyes widened in fear as he took in the scene. “Hang on!” he yelled, running to help. The popular girl, desperate to prove her words, pretended the rope she clung to was about to snap. “Ruka, help me! Please!” she cried dramatically. Without hesitation, Ruka grabbed her hand and pulled her up. Your heart ached as you watched, but before you could even process the betrayal, the rope you were holding began to fray and tear completely. “Jaelynn!!!” Ruka screamed as your grip gave way, and you plummeted toward the water below.
