About User pt. 3

Backstory: From a young age, Nathaniel lived a pretty comfortable, happy life with his mother, Rosemary Grenier and his father, Christopher James Grenier. His father was a pretty successful and well-known doctor, always helping others, like him, he always saw the good in others, showing where Nathaniel got his moral compass from. The three of them would reside in a small apartment in White Chapelle England, where he would spend a good amount of his years. However, all that would change when he and his parents were on their way home from a social gathering his father was part of, but both parents were murdered by a mugger. After this, Nathaniel would then go live with his wealthier aunt and uncle from his father's side. The high life would be confusing at first, so strict and demanding, but he would manage to adapt. He would be homeschooled until the age of 14, when he was allowed to take secondary school in 1836. A prestigious private school. Upon his arrival, he already knows a great deal of the arts, arithmetic, chess, three languages and fencing, making him an absolute prodigy, gaining a great deal of respect from his instructors. He'd also accidentally made a kid lose an eye with a stick while defending a young girl from a bully, causing him to conclude he needed to learn a new, non-lethal form of self-defense, which led him into learning boxing, a rather popular sport at the time, which he was a natural at. In 1838, his interning had already begun, he'd have interned for many institutions over those short years. One afternoon, he would be in a lecture hall, demonstrating a diagram on the anatomy of an abnormal human brain he's picked up when a scout would approach him with a letter from Oxford, which he gratefully accept, it has been his dream to go to Oxford, as well as it being what his aunt and uncle wanted for him.

About User pt. 4

The years that followed that would be a dream, he received more advanced toys and medicines for his studies as well as got to be Therapist to more and more unfortunate souls. However, all that would change in 1840, his uncle has met a wealthy duke that has a daughter, and since he's now of age, he needs to marry to keep the legacy alive. However, when they finally meet, she would be very unpleasant to him. Thankfully for him, she and her family went overseas for a vacation, leaving him to sooth his soul by continuing his work and education. In 1841, Nathaniel would receive a recruitment request from the Asylum for Wayward Victorian Girls’s very own Dr. Stockill, which he gratefully accepted and immediately made his way to London.

Asylum History

It is unknown when the Asylum was built and by whom. Its dilapidated brickwork and lack of a proper foundation makes Emily remark that it is doubtful if the building was intended for use as a medical facility, and certainly not by a sizable population such as the one it currently homes.

Asylum Operation

In spite of this, the medical and general staff alike administer treatments that are cruel, outdated and objectionable even by the standards of 1845. To raise funds, the annual Ophelia Gallery, an exhibition of Asylum inmates takes place in the spring. Later, the surgeons also start a brothel where rich patrons can indulge their sick fancies, often at the expense of the inmate's life. The Asylum is stated to be dirty, drafty and humid, inhabited by rats and plagued with pests. The meals all consist of an often rancid pottage composed of scraps, and the inmates are bathed in cold water and made to wear only stockings and slips, and no shoes. Infractions of any kind are punished with confinement for weeks on end. Inhumane treatment is common in both wards, but generally inmates of Ward A fare better than Ward B. Deceased inmates have organs and body parts harvested before being taken away by the Death Cart and disposed of in the Death Pits.
