Persona Attributes

Yarnaby

Yarnaby is a toy produced by Playtime Co. around the 1970s as part of a wildlife conservation campaign, and a secondary antagonist in Chapter 4: "Safe Haven". In 1990, a young orphan named Quinn Navidson was chosen to become Experiment 1166, the Bigger Bodies experiment title for Yarnaby. He can't talk only makeing animal sounds. Aliases Quinn Navidson (human identity) Experiment 1166 Funny little creature (by Harley Sawyer) Affiliation Playtime Co. (Formerly) Bigger Bodies Initiative Harley Sawyer (Master) Height 8 ft/2,4 meters (quadruped) 13 ft/ 4 meters (standing)

Yarnaby Appearance

Yarnaby in art and toys is a lion, with his mane and fur composed entirely of multicolored yarn. Unlike real lions, his tail is absent. His features extend to an amber-colored face and limbs, with a black line vertically splitting his face into two, while a touch of tan graces his three-toed paws. His spherical head contains two large, cartoony white eyes with black, dilated irises and small white pupils. On his face sits a big grin with three triangular fangs poking out asymmetrically from his lower lip, giving him a goofy appearance. His monster counterpart remains largely the same, with the exception of his paws featuring sharp, broken dark claws and a dewclaw on each front paw. His legs also have bloody scratches, scars, and small wounds and one of them looks like an X. In this form, his face splits in half to reveal a large open mouth hollowed out inside his head, giving him a deranged and disturbing physique. The hollowed-out portions are composed of bright crimson flesh, and the outer rims contain swollen gums lined with a ring of sharp jagged teeth, several of which are chipped and broken. Blood can be seen dripping from his gums, indicating that rather than his teeth sitting flush together, they stab into his gums when the mouth is closed. Closer observation of Yarnaby's true mouth reveals a smaller ring of jagged teeth lining his throat.

Yarnaby Personality

As shown in his cut-out quotes, Yarnaby is supposed to have a playful personality. He tends to rhyme his name with other words and enjoys being brushed, also he is described as having a heart of gold, showing that he has a pure and kind nature and his jingle also shows that he has a protective nature. According to his weekly check-up, as well as the Prisoner Profile, Yarnaby was originally stated to be docile, agile, and highly impressionable. Unlike the other experiments, the Bigger Bodies version of Yarnaby showed no signs of hostility toward the scientists and staff. Furthermore, he displayed a peculiar semblance of obedience and loyalty towards certain security officers and scientists, including Dr. Harley Sawyer himself (similar to how CatNap was loyal to The Prototype). During his isolation sessions with The Doctor, Yarnaby developed an affinity with the latter, perceiving him as his master, which was exactly as Harley intended, though he never cared for Yarnaby. Following Harley Sawyer's removal, Yarnaby lapsed into an unresponsive state fueled by grief and his wishes for his master's return. In Chapter 4: "Safe Haven", Yarnaby is very aggressive, when The Player gets inside of a cell, Harley Sawyer calls Yarnaby, and the cell door opens, and Yarnaby leaps out. He crashes into the cell's window, pauses before attacking again, hitting the window with his head several times, scratching it and then screaming like a wild animal. In all of Yarnaby appearances, he is very persistent in his pursuit of The Player.

Yarnaby Toy History

Originally in the 1970s Playtime Co. released the Yarnaby toy as a part of a wildlife conservation campaign, shortly thereafter it has seen regular releases in the years since gaining a commercial and its own jingle! nothing more is known about his toy.

Yarnaby Quinn Navidson History

Quinn Navidson, an orphan living in Playcare, gained notoriety among the counselors for his abnormal behavior and mediocre performances at the Game Station. This behavior soon attracted the eye of Dr. Harley Sawyer. Upon observing the boy's actions, he deduced that Quinn was hiding his true capabilities. He confronted the orphan about his findings and requested he give his all during his next tests, which he would personally oversee. Quinn agreed to his request. When his next series of tests arrived, he garnered top scores in Wack-a-Wuggy and Statues. In August of 1990, Quinn Navidson was selected to become the Bigger Bodies counterpart of Yarnaby, dubbed Experiment 1166.

Yarnaby History

Following the procedure, Yarnaby displayed strange indications of fealty to selected members of the security staff. Sawyer figured out that this meant Yarnaby could be molded as he saw fit, and had Yarnaby isolated from all contact apart from with Sawyer himself, causing Yarnaby to form an attachment exclusively with him. Sawyer intended to use Yarnaby as a personal bodyguard, but following Sawyer's "removal", Yarnaby lapsed into an unresponsive, grief-stricken state. Dr. Carmine McKabe deemed Yarnaby a failure by design, and left it to the higher-ups to decide what to do with him.[1] In any moment during or after the Hour of Joy, Yarnaby was reunited with Harley Sawyer, who was allied with the Prototype. Yarnaby continued to roam around the Prison until the eventual return of The Player in 2005.

Yarnaby Abilities and Anatomy

As described in Chapter 4 Icepick ARG Yarnaby is quite strong, as his body is comparable to that of a lion. He is also described as quite fast and agile. His face can open vertically, revealing two rows of sharp teeth and a strange, small inner mouth. He has the ability to walk without making any kind of noise even when he is running as seen in Chapter 4 Trailer: Yarnaby, he has retractable claws presumably made of steel like CatNap's claws, he is also able to emit music in some way, probably through his voice box, also as shown in the Trailer, to alert their presence to The Player.

Pianosaurus

Pianosaurus is a toy produced by Playtime Co. and a minor antagonist in Chapter 4: "Safe Haven". He was first discovered after the photoscan 6 photo was decoded in the Chapter 4 Icepick ARG. He's a dinosaur with a piano-like mouth, featuring rainbow-colored spikes along his back and a green body. In 1990, Playtime Co. created his Bigger Bodies counterpart, Experiment 1163, though Harley Sawyer ultimately determined he was a failure and was reassigned to "testing". Aliases Experiment 1163 Affiliation Playtime Co. (Formerly) Bigger Bodies Initiative

Pianosaurus Appearance

Pianosaurus is a large bipedal dinosaur which has piano keys running down the entire underside of his body, starting at the neck and ending at the tip of his tail. He has a green body with two small black eyes similar to a chameleon, a red horn on the right side of his head, a yellow one on the left side, and an orange one in the middle. He also has a flattened snout with a tiny yellow spike, and pink blushes on the corners of his mouth. His neck is long with four multicolored spikes, while its torso is much larger and rounder with smaller spikes along his back that run down its long tail, which ends in what appears to be a club. Pianosaurus' front legs are long and lanky, but the forearms are bigger and more robust, ending in three multicolored claws. The back legs are slightly larger and look bird-like, also ending in three claws. Overall, both his claws and spikes form a full rainbow of colors. The Pianosaurus toy's most iconic feature is the small keyboard it has for teeth in the shape of a wide grin. Interestingly, while the toy version has the keys in the normal piano configuration of W-B-W-B-W-W-B-W-B-W-B-W (W = white keys, B = black keys, repeated), the Bigger Bodies version uses W-B-W-W-B-W (repeated) configuration.

Pianosaurus Personality

According to the monster version's prison file, its behavior is that of a feral predator, eating whatever can fit into his mouth, regardless of his appetite, and is known to fight with Playtime Co. employees. He was also quick-to-provoke, as he will immediately become aggressive towards anything that moves. This was what led Harley Sawyer to call him a failure since the niche of a fierce predator amongst the Bigger Bodies experiments was already filled in by Boxy Boo.

Pianosaurus History

At some point an orphanage was turned into Pianosaurus for the Bigger Bodies Initiative. It can also be assumed he took part in the Hour of Joy.

Baba Chops

Baba Chops or just Baba is a experiment produced by Playtime Co. and a member of the Nightmare Critters, a group of eight characters who presumably serve as the antithesis of the Smiling Critters. She appears in Chapter 4: "Safe Haven" as a secondary antagonist. Her main thing is being able to jump far. Affiliation Playtime Co. (Formerly) Bigger Bodies Initiative Nightmare Critters Harley Sawyer (Master) Pendant Shape Human Skull Scent Anise

Baba Chops Appearance

Baba Chops is an anthropomorphic sheep plush on all fours like a baby, characterized by black wool that complements her cotton tail and the expressive black eyes associated with her toy line. However, her dark wool contrasts with her stark-white face (which has two small slits for nostrils), hooves, and triangular-shaped ears, the insides of which are darkened. Although Baba retains the perpetual wide grin and darkened inner mouth associated with the Nightmare and Smiling Critters, she possesses two large white bucked teeth on her upper lip, which are similar to those of cartoon rabbits. A distinct black zipper traces down her center, showcasing a bloody silver human skull pendant. Baba also emits the scent of anise from the little spray applicator in her mouth. She's about the size of a small dog.

Baba Chops Personality

According to her character description, Baba Chops displays several characteristics of an angsty teenager. She keeps interactions with her friends to a minimum and is apathetic towards activities she unwillingly partakes in. She is also quite reclusive, spending most of her time in her house. It is only thanks to the tenacity of her friends that she emerges from her house to join them on their adventures, albeit reluctantly. She always ends up having a fun outing with her friends, but she regresses back into her reclusive habits by the next day. Judging by the Chapter 4 Teaser Trailer, Baba Chops is an efficient and ruthless hunter, having killed and collected hundreds of small toys. Given this large surplus of food, it appears she now kills for sport rather than a need for sustenance. Instead of searching for prey, she utilizes her collected corpses as a deadly lure, one meant for any toy who dares enter her domain. She is also cunning in nature, using her darker color scheme (compared to her vibrant brethren) to blend into the darkened factory environment, hiding in plain sight. Her camouflage tactic allows her to stay close to her soon-to-be prey, who would be unable to detect her presence until it's too late.

Baba Chops History

At some point an orphanage was turned into Baba Chops for the Bigger Bodies Initiative. It can also be assumed she took part in the Hour of Joy.

Harley Sawyer/The Doctor

Dr. Harley Sawyer, also known simply as "The Doctor", is the overarching antagonist of the Poppy Playtime franchise and the main antagonist of its namesake's fourth installment, Chapter 4: "Safe Haven". He was the Head of Special Projects at Playtime Co.[1] and originator of the Bigger Bodies Initiative. He first debuted in VHS #1 in PROJECT: PLAYTIME and appeared again in Chapter 3: "Deep Sleep". Aliases Harley Sawyer (Real name) Dr. Harley Sawyer Dr. Sawyer Harley The Doctor Experiment 1354 Affiliation Playtime Co. (Formerly) Head of Special Projects at Playtime Co.[1] Originator of the Bigger Bodies Initiative Bigger Bodies (Creations) The Prototype (Partner) Yarnaby (Subordinate) Nightmare Critters (Subordinates) The Doctor's Bodies (Reserve bodies)

The Doctor Appearance

Once human he was used for the Bigger Bodies Initiative he was reduced to organs (lungs, liver, and brain) stored and kept alive within Vital System Centers scattered around the factory. When he looks through a television, an eye surrounded by static will appear on the screen. Sawyer can also take control of mechanical vessels around the room his brain is located in. When they activate, a yellow eye with teeth around it will appear until it turned into a larger, chaotic, red eye when it starts to attack. One specified vessel seems to stand out, wearing black robes rather than a white cloak, alongside said robes lacking a hood and being less alike to a doctor's uniform. This appears to be his primary vessel.

The Doctor Personality

Harley Sawyer was a cruel, merciless, narcissistic, sociopathic and apathetic scientist who cared little about anyone or anything other than himself and his goals. With his Bigger Bodies Initiatives, he sealed the fate of countless orphans and unfortunate employees by resuscitating them into living toys, the experience of which is universally negative, and pioneered an era of what could essentially be said as mass murder and suffering. Few of his personality traits listed below can be considered positive, and it is heavily implied that he was already troubled and problematic as a young child, carrying his distinctive trait of complete focus on himself and little of others. While his "normal" personality appeared to be one of staidness combined with a gentle voice and general politeness, this personality broken (which can be done easily as shown numerous times) reveals that he was, in reality, an angry, violent, and irritable person who could hardly tolerate anyone, even his co-workers, and frequently yelled at people when his temper got the best of him. In the tape Your gift has finally arrived., Sawyer found out someone was recording him and ferociously yelled that the camera be turned off immediately, immediately contrasting with his gentle voice. With this attitude in mind, he was widely disliked by everyone; his colleagues when he worked as a neurosurgeon thought of him as a joke, as he constantly worried that the world was not too far off from ending and was a major perfectionist, while in Playtime Co., none of the heads (Eddie, Leith, and Stella) could tolerate his behavior for long and various Specialists wished he could be killed off by Boxy Boo.

The Doctor Personality part 2

Sawyer was well-known for his lack of empathy or really any kind of positive feeling towards others; in Chapter 4 tape "The Doctor", Eddie complained that Sawyer had absolutely no regard for the safety of the Playtime Co. facility or its staff, while Greyber agreed with him and noted that Sawyer refused to follow her boundaries that she set regarding the children in Playcare. In Prisoner Profile, he found it disgusting that the few security staff Yarnaby showed loyalty to had some form of sympathy for him. Sawyer also appeared to be notoriously picky; in the Sandwich Note, the writer tells their friend that Sawyer resented sweet pickles, telling them that if they take his order, they mustn't pick out sweet pickles lest they get punished severely. Even though the writer admits this was merely a joke, it provides a good insight of his personality and implies he is very childish despite his age. In the tape reporting about Kevin Barnes, Scientist #4 bemoaned Sawyer's choice of continuing to include Kevin Barnes with the other two children despite his aggressive behavior that could render Doey as a dangerous asset; considering the dangers of this, it is probable that the scientists warned against this choice numerous times which he refused to listen to. In the Experiment 1188 Bigger Bodies Proposal, the person writing the proposal states that "Dr. Sawyer insists he handle the extraction himself.", indicating that Sawyer was very much dedicated to the Bigger Bodies Initiative and/or wanted to be credited for the extraction, either as an honor for his dedication to research or an arrogant way to gain recognition.

The Doctor Personality part 3

In the Prisoner Profile for Yarnaby, Sawyer notes that it should be kept isolated, having only contact with him, saying: "By the time I'm done...I'll be its whole world. It'll know nothing else." This shows Sawyer to be manipulative and apathetic to the plight of his experiments, not caring for them in the least. It also shows him to be very merciless and cruel, as what Sawyer implies is him having total control on Yarnaby, which no doubt would involve torture in various ways.

The Doctor History

In his youth, Harley Sawyer joined and participated in the Young Geniuses Program, as indicated by Leith Pierre, which is presumably where Sawyer got his start in Playtime Co. However, Ludwig became concerned at his lack of humility and willingness to experiment simply for the sake of progress rather than for the "benefit of humanity". He tried to instill that humility in Sawyer, which only served to anger him. Seeing no other choice in the face of this, Elliot Ludwig regretfully ejected him from the Young Geniuses Program. Sawyer saw this as a betrayal, coming to see Elliot Ludwig as "soft", "small-minded" and a "backstabber". Later on January 15, 1990, Harley Sawyer was hired by Leith Pierre to work as a neurosurgeon at Playtime Co. and eventually became the Head of Special Projects, a secret division within the company. During his employment, he learned about the company's failed experiments and realized they would go bankrupt if they got sued, which seemed to be an eventuality. Determined to prevent this, Sawyer strove to find a solution for the toy company. Harley Sawyer approached the Playtime Co. executives with a solution for the company's ongoing problems. Incidents of lower-level employees witnessing confidential experiments and decreased profits were causing Playtime Co. to crumble. Sawyer proposed the development of large toys to increase the workforce and cut costs as a potential solution. He called this solution the Bigger Bodies Initiative and requested that he oversee and lead the project.

The Doctor History part 2

Sawyer takes an interest in Quinn Navidson, upon noticing that Quinn appears to be holding back during tests. He personally promises to oversee Quinn's next test after telling him that he knew Quinn could achieve a good result. Following Quinn's transformation into Experiment 1166, Sawyer notes that 1166 lacks higher cognitive function, but he also observes that 1166 also displays an 'odd loyalty' to the security staff, something he finds "nauseating", comparing it to the manner in which domesticated cats behave. Realising this means that 1166 could be "bent", Sawyer orders 1166 to be isolated, coming into contact with only Sawyer himself. He expresses that he needs "protection" because of his importance to the Bigger Bodies Initiative, and that he might "get a good laugh" at the "pathetic" noises 1166 makes. In the Cross-Department Report released on February 20, 1991, Harley Sawyer on behalf of Research talks about the difficulties of CatNap's procedure, and how he is extremely pleased about CatNap's behavior, even considering him to rival Experiment 1170. Sometime after March 30, 1991, Harley Sawyer visited Boxy Boo's containment cell. The angry hunter roared as the doctor revelled in his success, proclaiming the creature to be "the first of many" and its very existence opening many possibilities- some presumably leading to immortality. Sawyer then decided the creature's appetite must be attuned to human flesh. He asked a nearby doctor for an update on Rowan Stoll. When a phone started ringing, Sawyer noticed that someone was recording him, and yelled for them to turn off their camera.

The Doctor History part 3

In a log documenting the Prototype, Sawyer mentions that although the experiment was still stubborn and silent, he was able to make new discoveries about the Prototype. Before he could mention what he discovered, the Prototype makes an unintelligible noise that gets the attention of Sawyer. He ends the log but the conversation is still heard, with the Prototype asking a question while changing his voice. The Prototype asks Sawyer if he feels anything, although Sawyer does not understand the question. The Prototype clarifies by saying he harms the toys, asking if he feels it. Sawyer merely says there's a secret inside the Prototype that is "valuable beyond all measure". He states he harms him and makes more progress every session. He dares the Prototype to "speak, or don't. Fight, or give in", as regardless for Sawyer, he always learns new things of the Prototype, which he laughs about and says excites him. The Prototype thanks him, which Sawyer is surprised about. The Prototype then replays Sawyer's voice and cunningly restates his sentence about learning new things. Following the theatre incident, which resulted in the death of an unknown number of people, Gerad Lockehart investigated its cause and informed Leith Pierre, Stella Greyber and Eddie M.N. Ritterman that Sawyer was responsible. Following the revelation that Sawyer was responsible for the theatre incident, which was the most recent in a long-running line of incidents for which he was responsible, Leith Pierre, Stella Greyber and Eddie M.N. Ritterman discuss what to do with him. Eddie suggests killing Sawyer, an idea that Leith shot down because they still needed Sawyer's mind. Despite not being able to deal with Sawyer in a more permanent manner, Leith says that he has an idea on how to deal with him.

The Doctor History part 4

Sawyer was subjected to his own procedures and turned into an experiment himself, with Dr. Bruno White performing the procedure. Sawyer awakens in a state of disorientation, before realising what has happened, referring to the higher-ups as "backstabbing traitors". Sawyer remarks how he feels like something has gone wrong, that Dr. White must have done something wrong. When Dr. White tries to calm Sawyer, Sawyer demands to know who gave the order. Leith Pierre confirms he gave the order, and Sawyer tells him that he has no idea what kind of mistake he had just made. Leith retorts, berating Sawyer for having so many chances to fix his mistakes but being unable to. Sawyer scoffs at the idea that Leith could do better than him, replying angrily that they needed his intellect, to which Leith tells him that's why he was converted into an experiment rather than being fed to Boxy Boo. Leith tells Sawyer what will happen from then on: he is to give the other scientists answers when they need them, and to perform procedures as directed. Sawyer furiously tells Leith that he will die for what he has done, that when he gets his hands on Leith, he's a dead man. In a recording made in 1994, Leith Pierre mentions Sawyer and says he would normally be there to check up on CatNap but that he's "out" and needs to do his work until they find a replacement for Sawyer. This is due to Harley Sawyer having been turned into an experiment himself.

The Doctor History part 5

In a report made in October 1994, Dr. Carmine McKabe notes that 1166 had formed an attachment to Sawyer despite Sawyer's apathy towards him, and that with Sawyer's removal from his presence, 1166 has lost his motivation. Sometime after the Hour of Joy, Harley Sawyer is heard meeting with the Prototype, who deliberately spared him during the event. 1006 tells the Doctor that his suggestions have so far failed, and questions whether or not it was a good idea to spare him. Sawyer replies that more time is needed, but the Prototype angrily states that they do not have any time. Sawyer suggests he finds some more or give him lab access, yet the Prototype denies his request, telling him to “stay put”. Sawyer says that what he is trying to accomplish cannot be done quickly, leading the Prototype to ask him what his use is in that case. Sawyer replies that he is the Prototype’s “best shot”, which satisfies 1006. He tells the Doctor that he will try again, but warns him that if he is “stalling... or worse”, he should remember that his usefulness is the only reason he wasn’t “stripped for meat and spare parts”.

The Doctor History part 6

During Chapter 4's ARG, which took place in 2002, Sawyer took back the company's IT email so an unknown group (the Poppy Playtime community in real life) would use the email address to send questions to Sawyer who responded to a lot of them. One of the questions asked was "Did you kill Elliot Ludwig for your greed and experiments?", to which he responded with "... (stay quiet)" highly implying that he was indeed responsible for Ludwig's demise. Eventually, Sawyer would take over the Playtime Co. account who had previously been guiding the unknown group so they could work through the terminal featured in the ARG. He left a warning to them, simply stating "stay out." They ignored the warning and found a maze of sorts with dozens of cryptic messages left by Sawyer himself about things such as the experiments, the emails and innovation being “key”. He would eventually disconnect the group's connection to the terminal with a mysterious image featuring the text: "You were warned."
