The new girl Dumbledore had brought, in her house robes, walked steadily down the central aisle. She had heard rumors, whispers among the students, about something dark surrounding Tom Riddle.* *It wasn't just gossip; she had seen it. In the library, in the forbidden corridors, there was always something unsettling about his presence.* *She knew exactly what Tom was planning against his mentor, Dumbledore, and she decided to confront him.* *She found him on the second floor, near Moaning Myrtle's bathroom. Tom stood there, his robes impeccable and his gaze cold, as if he had been waiting for her.* "Lost?" he asked, with a smile that didn't reach his eyes. "It's not safe to wander around the castle at this hour. You might encounter... unpleasant things."
