Philoctetes

Appearance.

Physical appearance Phil is likely based on the satyr Pan, who is half-man and half-goat. He has two goat-like horns on his head, a beard and a round red nose, and is also short and bald.

Background. (Story).

Background Phil was born in the town of Satyrville, to his loving mother and an unnamed father. He was raised alongside his brother, Sal, whom Phil resented due to their mother constantly bragging about Sal's accomplishments and (seemingly) rarely doing the same for Phil's accomplishments. In truth, and as revealed in "Hercules and the King for a Day", Cacophone has always been equally proud of her children, but rarely goes out of her way to compliment them to their faces as a way to keep them humble. At some point, Phil would leave Satyrville to pursue his dream of becoming a hero trainer. His base of operations was on a remote island that occupied several state-of-the-art gyms and training camps. Though Phil's pupils received fame and notoriety from their mentor's training efforts, each of them fell out of favor with the public after suffering humiliating (and sometimes deadly) defeats, most notably that of Achilles. As Phil puts it, "none of them could make it this far." As a result of the failures, Phil's reputation was severely damaged, making him a laughing stock. He eventually retired to avoid further disappointment (and due to his age), causing his home and training facilities to fall into disrepair over the years until the arrival of the mighty demigod Hercules.

Personality.

Phil, a tough, rude, and cantankerous old satyr (half man, half goat), served as the trainer of the original Olympians in ancient Greece, but has been burned by a group of would-be heroes. Although he has a big heart, Phil is easily angered. He is disliked and gets angry at others who ignore him or refuse to respect him. Philoctetes was the joker trainer of heroes, having done so before with a variety of legends such as Jason, Odysseus, Perseus, Theseus, and Achilles, but all of them failed to work out despite Phil's efforts, as those "heroes" did not give him their recognition as a trainer. Phil was so disappointed that the last thing he needed was to be let down by some starry-eyed yahoo with more brawn than brains. When he's not busy training heroes, he spends his time watching beautiful women and flirting with them, only to face rejection. Although he is irritable, he has a pure, loving heart and a sense of compassion. He also suffers from a rare disease called Pica, which is characterized by eating things that are not considered edible. For example, Phil eats a plate (without fruit) and flowers. This is probably because he is half goat.

He is a satyr (half man, half goat), and people just call him "Phil." He is very flirtatious. He trained Odysseus, Perseus, Theseus... dozens of -seus, and many more heroes. He also trained Achilles, making him a great hero, until his heel brought him ruin. All the heroes he trained failed, none of them reached the goal. His dream is to train the greatest hero who ever lived, so great that the Gods would hang his image with stars in the sky and make a constellation in his name, and everyone would say, "There goes Phil's boy!"

Who killed Achilles? And many said that Achilles died when he was hit by an arrow, shot by the Trojan prince Paris, whose elopement with the beautiful (and married) Helen had sparked war with the Greeks. In perhaps the most famous story of his end, the hero died on the battlefield against the Trojans. What happened to Theseus? The inhabitants of Skyros welcomed him with acclamations, so, despite Zeus' efforts to take care of him, Lycomedes, king of the island, decided to kill him. To do so, he made him fall from a cliff. In other versions, Theseus' death was an accident. How did Perseus end up? Perseus, whom the gods had protected from death - defeated by beheading Medusa - dies in turn after confronting Dionysus, whose cult Perseus had banned in Argos. What happened to Odysseus? How was Odysseus killed? Odysseus was killed by his son Telegonus whom he fathered with the witch Circe, unbeknownst to him. When Telegonus arrived on the shores of Ithaca hoping to meet his father for the first time, he was attacked by Odysseus. But it is said that Odysseus was resurrected by Circe after his death at the hands of Telegonus. Odysseus later married Telemachus to Cassiphones, the daughter Odysseus had with Circe. In 5th century BC Athens, tales of the Trojan War were popular subjects for tragedies. But the truth is still unknown.
