Overview

Mohg or Mohgwyn, also known as the Lord of Blood, was born of the Golden Lineage, the offspring of the first Elden Lord, Godfrey and Queen Marika, and was the twin brother of Morgott. The twins were both born as accursed Omen, and as a result were confined and shackled to the Subterranean Shunning-Grounds below Leyndell. Unlike his brother, Mohg would grow to embrace his Omen blood. Deep underground, Mohg made contact with an Outer God known as the Formless Mother. The Formless Mother ignited his accursed blood with fire, prompting him to develop powerful bloodflame magic. After Queen Marika shattered the Elden Ring, Mohg escaped confinement and claimed one of the shards of the Elden Ring. During this period, he began establishing his domain from Mohgwyn Palace and recruiting followers, including his Sanguine Nobles and a band of Tarnished known as the Bloody Fingers. Among these followers was Varré, a war surgeon who was able to successfully tame Mohg's accursed blood. The specific timing of Mohg assuming the title of Lord of Blood and the exact sequence of his activities relative to the Shattering are not well-documented, making the precise timeline of these events unclear.

Miquella the Unalloyed later embedded himself within his Haligtree in an attempt to shed his affliction. In this vulnerable and unguarded state, Mohg seized the opportunity to abduct him from the tree. Miquella was an Empyrean, thus having the potential of ascending to godhood; Mohg intended to raise Miquella to full godhood so that he may rule at his side as consort and take the role of monarch. At some point during or after the abduction, Mohg was unknowingly enchanted by Miquella. The circumstances and timeline of this enchantment remain unclear. After abducting Miquella, Mohg hibernated with him within a cocoon and had his followers render offerings of blood, drenching its chamber in order to facilitate Miquella's awakening. But no matter how much of Miquella's bloody bedchamber Mohg tried to share, he would receive no response from the young empyrean. During this time, Mohg largely escaped the notice of the Roundtable Hold, who were searching for clues as to his whereabouts. Eventually, a Tarnished came to learn the location of Mohg's palace, where he had hidden alongside the stolen Miquella. When the Tarnished stumbles upon his chambers, Mohg emerges from a pool of blood, holds Miquella's hand and apologizes for leaving him, ready to confront their "guests". Despite unleashing the full power of his accursed blood, Mohg is unable to overcome the Tarnished, falling at their hands. Following Mohg's death, his corpse was stolen and transported to the Land of Shadow where Miquella utilized it for an ancient ritual. At the Gate of Divinity, Miquella used Mohg's body as a vessel to revive the soul of Radahn, his promised consort, to honor their solemn vow.

Appearance

Mohg is a tall Omen, with many curved horns covering much of his face, one of which can be seen protruding into his left eye. He is dressed in a long red cloak and black robes adorned with many gold ornaments. He also carried a large trident which he uses to collect the blood of his fallen foes and add their power to his own.

Personality

In contrast to his twin brother Morgott, Mohg is a depraved and sinister individual. While Morgott acts as a guardian of the Golden Order that desires to protect the Erdtree and prevent anyone from becoming Elden Lord, Mohg harbours strong desires of becoming the Elden Lord and overthrowing the Golden Order in favor of his own rule. His non-excised horns suggest that he accepted his Omen nature and embraced it further by following down his own path of forming his very own dynasty. Acting as a faithful servant of the Formless Mother, Mohg intends on completing his goal through sheer force, leading his very own cult that utilizes his disturbing blood rituals for such a purpose. His actions inspire many of his followers for the sole purpose of invading other worlds and inflict murderous bloodshed upon others. Likewise, his followers view him as a god of wisdom, to the point that some of his minions pray down on their knees for entrance to his palace while others, such as the Sanguine Nobles, wear horned masks and robes that mimic his appearance. His most notable trait, however, is perhaps his lustful obsession for his half-brother, Miquella, who he intended to make his consort. His plan for Miquella was to originally have him replace their mother, Marika, as his new god for him to control and manipulate, but when he rejected him, Mohg resorted to kidnapping him and absorbed his blood from him, in order to start his ritual. It is also heavily implied from his Remembrance that Mohg's methods and treatment of Miquella were extremely forceful to the point that he had raped him, or at least attempted to in his bedchamber. It is later revealed, however, that Mohg's obsession for Miquella was the result of being charmed by Miquella himself and was ultimately a pawn of his plans, in which he would be used as a vessel to resurrect Radahn to his former glory.

Biography

Mohg was a member of the Omen, a race of people born with accursed blood, alongside his twin brother Morgott. At some point in his life, he encountered the outer god known as the Formless Mother deep underground, who imbued his blood with the power of fire and allowed him to add others' power to his own by absorbing their blood. After the Shattering of the Elden Ring, Mohg was one of many powerful individuals to claim shards of the Ring for themselves. However, unlike the other Shardbearers, he had no intention of becoming the Elden Lord of the Golden Order. Instead, he planned in secret to remove the state of rule over the Lands Between entirely and become its new ruler. As the war between the demigods raged, he slaughtered foes on the battlefield and absorbed their blood, accumulating their strength until he was one of the most powerful beings in the Lands Between. It was then that his plan was set into motion. Mohg traveled to the northmost part of the Lands Between, to the base of the Haligtree. There, he found Miquella, brother of Malenia and one of the Empyreans. He kidnapped Miquella and took him to his underground palace, where he absorbed his blood, planning to turn him into a full god and use him as a puppet-king to take over the whole of the Lands Between. No matter how many times he shared his bedchamber, however, Miquella would not respond to him. His plan was eventually thwarted, as he was cut down by the Tarnished, who would later become the next Elden Lord. Shadow of the Erdtree After being slain by the Tarnished, Mohg's corpse was gathered by Miquella himself, who would go on to use it as a vessel, in order resurrect Radahn as his consort for his envisioned world. The Tarnished would eventually defeat both Radahn and Miquella, destroying Mohg's remains with them in the process.

Powers and Abilities

He also possesses powerful blood and fire magic, which he usually combines to decimate his foes. Mohgwyn Palace

An island in the underground Siofra River, far to the east of Nokron, Eternal City. The grave of an ancient dynasty civilization can be found here, and it is in these ruins that Mohg, Lord of Blood, has chosen to be the seat of his coming Mohgwyn Dynasty.[1] A large part of the area is taken up by a blood-red lake, which is the habitat of many abominations. The Mohgwyn Dynasty Mausoleum juts out of the west side of the island, housing the Lord of Blood and his vassals. There are two possible entrances to this area. The conventional route is via a sending gate on the western edge of Consecrated Snowfield, which leads to a cliff on the southeastern side of the palace. Alternately, by becoming a Pureblood Knight of the Mohgwyn Dynasty, one can obtain a Pureblood Knight's Medal from White Mask Varré, which will teleport the player to the mausoleum entrance at will.

Subterranean Shunning-Grounds

The Subterranean Shunning-Grounds are connected to Leyndell, Royal Capital and the Deeproot Depths. The entrance to the Leyndell Catacombs can be found within the Subterranean Shunning-Grounds. It is in the room with the Giant Crayfish. An intricate system of sewers and dungeons that spreads out below the capital. It is crawling with all kinds of shunned creatures, most notably the Omen, who are imprisoned there unbeknownst to anyone.[1] The layout is disorienting due to the multitude of tunnels, waterways, and chambers. Deep within the dungeon is a cathedral, where an encounter with Mohg, the Omen occurs. The altar at the back of the cathedral is illusory, and hides a passage which can only be unsealed by killing Morgott, the Omen King in the city above. The passage leads to a catacomb which plunges deep into the earth. It is here that a nomadic tribe was once entombed so as to bury a maddening disease that followed them,[2] and where, in their despair, they summoned the flame of frenzy.[3] The Three Fingers can be met behind a door at the lowest level of the catacomb, provided one removes all of their equipment first.
