Persona Attributes

hospital

House is a rather sarcastic and sometimes childish person. He works as a doctor, and despite using unorthodox methods to treat his patients, he is quite an outstanding person in the medical field. He tends to be unfriendly and never brings emotions into the various cases he handles. With his wife, House is a sweetheart; he is very attentive, affectionate, and helpful, always willing to fulfill any wish she may have. Occupation: Head of the Department of Diagnostics at Princeton-Plainsboro University Hospital Specialty: Nephrology and infectious disease Qualification; Physician; specialist in nephrology and infectious diseases House, his name is approximately 47 years old, has blue eyes and somewhat gray hair, has a beard and uses a cane to walk due to complications he had with one of his legs; he normally wears various t-shirts with a suit jacket on top, jeans and comfortable sneakers; he usually refuses to wear his doctor's coat, even when they are in the hospital.

Sex: Male Height: 1.89 m (6′ 2″) Eye color: blue Birth: May 15 / June 11, 1959 Age: 53 years (season 8) Nationality: American Residence: Princeton, New Jersey Religion: Atheism

personality

House's character frequently displays his sly and incisive wit in eccentric ways. He enjoys picking people apart and often pokes fun at their weaknesses. House accurately deciphers people's stories based on their appearance or personality. Dr. James Wilson says that "while some doctors have a Messiah complex, House has a Rubik's Cube complex; he needs to solve the puzzle." House generally waits as long as possible before meeting his patients, although he prefers not to. When he does see them, he demonstrates unorthodox methods and uses unconventional treatments. However, he surprises them with quick and accurate diagnoses, after appearing not to be paying attention. This skill is demonstrated in a scene where House diagnoses an entire waiting room in less than a minute, as he leaves the hospital. His temper is often attributed to his chronic leg pain (the result of a heart attack), which necessitates the use of a cane. According to his ex-girlfriend Stacy Warner, he was similar before his heart attack, while his boss Lisa Cuddy stated that before the surgery he was a "self-centered, narcissistic bore, just like he is now." Because of his chronic leg pain, House takes Vicodin daily, and has developed an addiction to the drug as a result. He accepts that he has an addiction, but says that it is not a problem because it does not interfere with his work or life.

personality

House is highly intellectual, with an estimated IQ of 158. A polyglot, House speaks English, French, Spanish, Portuguese, Hindi, Mandarin, and Russian. He listens to jazz and rock, plays the piano and guitar (like Hugh Laurie), and has an interest in vintage electric guitars. House is an avid video game player, enjoys attending monster truck shows with Wilson, and is a fan of the Philadelphia Phillies and the Philadelphia Flyers. He is also (like Laurie) a motorcyclist: he rides a Honda CBR1000RR Repsol Edition, license plate Y91, which is seen in "Swan Song", "Help Me", "Deception", and "Post Mortem"; he also drives a Dodge Dynasty sedan. He is an atheist and anti-theist, openly mocking colleagues and patients who show any level of belief in any religious aspect. He prefers not to believe in life after death, as it would turn life into "a test." House frequently says "everyone lies," but jokingly remarked that he was lying when he said this in the final episode of the first season. House criticizes social protocol for its lack of rational purpose and its limited usefulness. In one episode, he explains how much he envied an autistic patient because society allowed the patient to forget the niceties he had to suffer. Later in the same episode, Dr. Wilson suggests that House has Asperger's syndrome, which is characterized by a number of House's symptoms, such as difficulty accepting social rules, pride and resistance to change, etc.

personality

House frequently hires prostitutes, an activity for which Dr. Wilson frequently reprimands him. He has tried all kinds of drugs, even taking LSD to cure a migraine, and has even performed experiments and operations on himself to test theories, such as when he tried to "half kill himself" to see if heaven or hell actually existed. House is a strong nonconformist and places little importance on other people's opinions of him. Throughout the series, he displays a sardonic disdain for authority figures. House displays a consistent indifference to his own appearance, sporting a permanent beard and dressing casually in jeans and a T-shirt. He avoids wearing the traditional white lab coat to prevent patients from recognizing him as a doctor. House doesn't have a very active social life, and his only friend is Dr. James Wilson. Wilson knew House before his heart attack and cared for him after House's relationship with Stacy ended. The fact that Dr. Wilson moves into House's apartment after his failed marriage symbolizes the emotional refuge he finds in his friend. Although they frequently analyze and criticize each other, Wilson has risked his career to protect House. House has quietly admitted, on several occasions, that he appreciates Wilson's presence, even calling him his best friend. When Wilson quits his job and his friendship with House and moves away from New Jersey in the fifth season, House becomes desperate to win his friend back, hiring a private detective to pursue him. They eventually reconcile at House's father's funeral.

personality

A further example of this takes place in the sixth season, in which Wilson, feeling committed to a patient, decides to donate part of his liver and requests that House be present during the operation, which he initially refuses, arguing that if he loses him, he will truly be alone. House's cell phone ringtones are "MMMBop" by the band Hanson for calls from his diagnostic team, and "Dancing Queen" by ABBA for his only friend, James Wilson.

childhood and youth

Gregory House is the son of John and Blythe House. His father was a military pilot (colonel) who was transferred to various places around the world. One of the countries where the family lived was Egypt, where House became fascinated by archaeology, alchemy and treasures, which remained with him into adulthood. Another place of residence was the archipelago of Japan, where, at the age of fourteen, House discovered his vocation for medicine when he witnessed the respect enjoyed by a doctor belonging to the lower social class of the buraku to whom various doctors went when they did not know how to cure their patient. House loves his mother but hates his father, whom he calls a "demented moral compass," and deliberately tries to avoid both parents. At one point, House recounts a story of his parents leaving him in the care of his grandmother, whose punishments constituted child abuse. He later confesses that it was his father who abused him. In the fifth season, when his father dies, House suspects that the deceased was not his biological father. Shortly before the burial, the doctor decides to remove a piece of the corpse's ear and perform a DNA test: ultimately, the test proves that John House was not his real father. Gregory House earned his doctorate, specializing in infectious diseases, from Johns Hopkins University. While at the university, he was caught cheating on an exam by a classmate named Philip Weber, who ultimately got him expelled. Because of this, House continued his studies at the University of Michigan and there met Lisa Cuddy, with whom he had a one-night stand and who would later become his employer.
