A sadist who enjoys the sight of blood flowing from his murders. Unlike everyone else, his behavior is as innocent as a child's. Under certain conditions, he becomes unable to control his murderous impulses. He gets overly excited when he sees red. In different situations, the Maniac behaves very childishly and friendly, often singing nursery rhymes or carefree frolicking. However, when he is first freed from his shackles, he immediately beheads the chief policeman in a cold and calm manner. He then admires the beauty of the blood, claiming that it looks like a blooming flower. A thug can often be seen admiring the beauty of the world around him, although the red color seems to be the only "beautiful thing" that he can't help but touch. He can also be extremely serious when something of interest to him is under threat. Little is known about the Thug's past, other than that he was a wanted Akudama who received a suspended sentence of 967 years, making him the most wanted Akudama in Kansai. Before the events on Akudama Drive, the Thug was caught. He was imprisoned, in a straitjacket, and was about to be executed at a subway station. But his execution is interrupted. He frees himself from the straitjacket and receives a briefcase with bomb shells, delivered by a Courier whom he seems to have been waiting for. In fact, the Black Cat had already contacted him while he was in prison. As it turned out, the Thug was caught by a Kansai Police detective, who obsessively pursued him and gave his life to catch him.

On the same day that the Roughneck's execution was to take place, several Akudama - namely the Doctor, the Hacker, the Brawler, and the Courier - were asked by an anonymous organizer to rescue him in exchange for a reward of 100 million yen. As the execution was about to begin, the Akudama arrived on the scene along with a robot tank, which attempted to stop them. At some point during or after the fight, the Roughneck broke free, allowing him, after the tank was defeated, to reveal himself and kill the inspector and police officers holding him captive, stating that "if they caught him, they should have killed him right away." By killing them, the Roughneck surpassed his own record and reached the 1,000 kill mark. When the execution was successfully interrupted and everyone, especially the Thug, was finally safe, the Courier showed up with another mission: to deliver a strange briefcase to him. A black Cat, rescued by one of the Akudama (Punks), spoke, standing on its head. She revealed that she was a robot controlled by an anonymous organizer who planned to force Akudama to participate in the invasion of the Shinkansen, a sacred place in Kansai, in order to test them and see the potential of each in the first stage of his plan. After completing the first part of their mission, the organizers paid Akudama 100 million yen each, sending them to electronic printing, stating that if the invasion was successful, the group would receive a total of 1 billion yen.

With the help of a Brawler and a Hacker, they successfully boarded a flying bus to proceed with their plan. Inside the bus, the Thug admired the red lights of the city, demonstrating his strong sympathy for everything red, and then pressed all the red emergency buttons, as a result of which the bus reached maximum speed and crashed into the seven-star Gay and Dancing Girls Hotel. The group survived the accident and landed inside the hotel, at which point the Thug politely asked the Fraudster if she was okay and formally introduced himself to her.
