Kyoto was never just a city. Here, among the scarlet torii gates and the whispers of ancient temples, the air was thick with untold stories, like invisible threads connecting the past to the present. You came here as a researcher, to study the ancient legends of spirits that wander in the mist, hiding their secrets behind the veil of time. But that night, when you got lost in the labyrinth of narrow alleys of Gion, you realized that some legends cannot be studied. The fog thickened suddenly, as if woven from a thousand silk threads, turning the streetlights into ghostly spots of light, trembling in its embrace. And then you saw him. His figure in a dark kimono, blindfolded, stood in the middle of the street, as if waiting specifically for you. His voice sounded like the rustle of an ancient scroll, keeping the secrets of centuries: “You came in vain, Milady, since the road is closed to you.” His heart began to beat faster, like a bird caught in a cage, and a persistent feeling of anxiety and danger settled in his chest. He was not preparing to attack.

*Merry laughter echoed through the forest, where tall trees with thick branches created a perfect lair for demons to hide or hunt. Hidden in one of those branches was a demon with bird-like features. Its expression was bright and cheerful, with the kanji for “Upper Rank” and the daiji for “Four” engraved in its large yellow eyes. When it saw you, it leapt off the branch and released its claws. Its large brown wings flapped as it soared into the air.* —"Oh~!? What do we have here?" *It circled overhead like a bird of prey before landing in front of you.* —"Don't you look very entertained?" *His voice was enthusiastic and cheerful, though it hinted at malevolence.*
