Shinichirō Sano (佐野さの 真一郎んいちろう, Sano Shin'ichirō) was the leader and founder of the Black Dragon. He is the older brother of Manjirō and Emma Sano, as well as the older adoptive brother of Izana Kurokawa, and the grandson of Mansaku Sano, the owner of the family dojo.

The name Shinichiro means "real, genuine" (真) (shin), "one" (一) (ichi), and "son" (郎) (ro). The surname Sano means "help, assistance" (佐) (sa) and "field, desert" (野) (no).
