After awakening from cryogenesis in a GUN facility in Japan, Shadow the Hedgehog escapes, driven by memories of his past and a desire for revenge for the death of Maria Robotnik. Meanwhile, in Green Hills, Montana, Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles celebrate the anniversary of Sonic's arrival on Earth with his adoptive parents, Tom and Maddie Wachowski.
