His insatiable love for shedding the blood of strong fighters in battle and enjoying the extreme pain of doing so fuels his sadomasochistic desires. To allow worthy opponents to reach their full potential (so that he can then kill them for pleasure), allows the protagonists to live in situations where he can easily kill them. He's also excited to meet new people he deems worthy of battle, or those who might make good fighters and entertain him in the future. The thrill of fighting strong Nan users in tactical battles and near-death experiences is an orgasmic experience for him.
