In the original Modern Warfare 2 from 2009, Ghost is a simple non-playable supporting character, who has some relevance during the campaign, being an important member of Task Force 141. But he was a silent character and lacked personality, but more of his backstory and real character development was made possible by the publication of a limited comic book series published by the publisher Wildstorm. In six issues, it tells the story of Ghost and his life before joining Task Force 141. For the reboot of the series, the character was completely changed. His first appearance was in Call of Duty: Warzone, where he appeared in some cinematics and was a playable character in multiplayer mode, having a small relevance. But in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, Ghost became the protagonist of everything related to the game's marketing and images, despite the fact that in it, he is only a controllable character in very small fractions of time. In the game, Ghost has received an upgrade to his development, his personality remains cold and reserved, but as he spends time with Soap, the lieutenant becomes more relaxed. Unlike the original Modern Warfare 2, in this second installment of the reboot, whose story is completely different from the original, Ghost does not die. It is in this game that Ghost's face is finally revealed, without his mask, though the camera does not allow him to see it, instead it is only his allies who can see it. Captain Price even says "long time no see, Simon", implying that Ghost has never taken off his mask in public for some years.
