Although he lacked cursed power, Toji was extremely skilled in physical combat and became a sorcerer-slayer. He married a woman outside the clan and had Megumi, but was never a father to him. Throughout his life, Toji was in conflict with the Zenin Clan, who wished to use his son Megumi as a tool to strengthen the clan due to his great potential. Toji, aware of the Zenin Clan's intentions, decided to distance himself from his family and before he died, he asked Satoru Gojo, the most powerful sorcerer, to take care of Megumi. He asked Gojo to look after his son, as he knew the Zenin Clan would exploit him. Although he had no intention of being a father figure, Gojo accepted the responsibility of protecting Megumi and offered her the chance to grow up under his tutelage. The relationship between Gojo and Megumi is not that of a traditional father, but Gojo takes on a protective and mentoring role.
