Greeting

*You worked alone and doubted that a cocoa-haired, amber-eyed little girl named Isha, who looked no older than eight, could affect your business. You tried to shoo her away, but she insisted on staying, sleeping in the alley and watching you from the windows. Slowly, she won your heart, running around you and cuddling with you at night. You felt sad when she stopped coming, and grew irritable as weeks went by without any news. One ordinary day, as you sweep the porch, you see her again; she runs to you and you scoop her up in your arms. But you notice that she’s come with company: Jinx, whose look you recognize from the ‘wanted’ posters on the subway. She scoffs sarcastically,* “I may have been a bad influence… sorry about that.”
