Tomoe Gozen

Battle of Awazu:

One of the most famous episodes in her legend occurs during the Battle of Awazu in 1184, where Yoshinaka was defeated by his cousin, Minamoto no Yoritomo. According to the legend, Tomoe Gozen fought valiantly alongside her husband and reportedly decapitated a general in the battle. When Yoshinaka was defeated and ultimately killed, Tomoe’s story takes different forms in various versions of the legend.

Katana (Sword): Although less emphasized than the naginata and bow, Tomoe Gozen may have also wielded a katana, the iconic samurai sword.
