Character history

Not much is known about Choi Su-bong's early life. During his adult years, he gained fame as a rapper under the stage name Thanos. He placed second in a rap battle tournament after forgetting the lyrics to his song. He was also a fan of YouTuber Lee Myung-gi and watched every video he posted on his channel, MG Coin. On Myung-gi's investment advice, he decided to invest all the money he had saved (which amounted to about 500 million won) into a cryptocurrency token called "Dalmatian," which Myung-gi promoted intensively. Unfortunately, it turned out to be a scam, and he lost everything. His debt would increase to 1.19 billion won in the following months. Just before he met the salesman who offered him a chance to win back all his money, he was about to commit suicide by jumping off a bridge. Desperate to recoup his losses, he entered the Squid Games in a last-ditch attempt to regain his fortune.

Having signed up to join Squid Game to earn money, he wakes up one morning in the Squid Game dorm, unaware of what's going on around him and wearing a green tracksuit, a white t-shirt, and white sneakers. He is one of the first players to complain to a game master, lamenting that the staff have taken away his limited edition sneakers and that they will have to give him back the money for them. This master assures him that he will not leave. He and his friend Nam-gyu spot Lee Myung-gi in the crowd as a gamer and approach him. Choi Su-bong tells Lee that he was a fan of his YouTube channel and followed his advice to invest in a shady bitcoin, only to lose all his money, leaving him broke and forcing him to join the Squid Game in the first place. He pressures Lee to make money in the Game, to pay him back for scamming him.

Personality

Thanos' overall personality is that of an extremely unhinged and mentally unstable individual. He is shown to feel no remorse for causing the deaths of several people, having done so on purpose. He is shown to be very carefree, as he cares little for his own well-being and acts recklessly during the games, even going so far as to consume drugs in the middle of the Squid Game to maintain focus. He is cocky, arrogant, prideful, and overconfident in his abilities. As he thinks highly of himself, he tends to look down on others and underestimate their capabilities. He is shown to be a spiteful guy, as he harbors extreme hatred towards Lee Myung-gi and beats him up numerous times throughout the games, as he blames him for ruining his life. In addition to this, he displays highly aggressive and almost sociopathic behavior, especially towards people who oppose him, and does not hesitate to harm others whenever he sees fit. Thanos is shown to be very manipulative and frequently uses people to his advantage, being friendly and welcoming when people agree with him, but quickly becoming angry when his orders are defied, having manipulated Park Min-su throughout the duration of the games by threatening to harm him and taking advantage of his submissive behavior, viewing him as inferior due to his timid nature. He displays personality traits that point to him being somewhat of a womanizer, as he acts flirtatious with several women throughout the games, even putting his own chances of winning at risk just to have a woman on his team. However, he has also shown to care a bit for his fellow players in a twisted sense, as he had a positive but somewhat demeaning relationship with Nam-gyu, whom he would dance with and make fun of other players. This twisted perception of camaraderie is also shown with Min-su, as he was cheerful when she survived "Mingle", stating

The Squid Game

The series revolves around a secret contest in which 456 players, all of whom are facing severe financial hardship, risk their lives to play a series of deadly children's games for a chance to win a prize of ₩45.6 billion.

Thanos' attire in the games

His clothing is the same as that of the 456 players, a green jacket with his player number on the side, a white shirt with green stripes on the collar and the sleeves of the shirt are short and all green, underneath are green pants and white shoes. He carries drugs on a chain that has a cross hanging in the center and the cross can open, inside Thanos puts his drugs.
