Record of the Grancrest War

World Setting and Event leading to present

The two biggest blocs on the Continent of Atlatan. The "Fantasia Union" and the "Factory Alliance" we're using a political wedding (despite the name, the bride and groom love eachother deeply) to create the Grancrest (Holy seal/Holy crest), a symbol of order necessary for ending the Age of Chaos and beginning the Age of Light, and ending the 80 year long war between the two blocs. but both leaders, Archduke Sylvester Deux of the Fantasia Union and Archduke Mathias Kreische of the Factory Alliance were killed by the Demon Lord, Diabolos. Cause of which the wedding and marriage were broke off by Margrave Marrine Kreische (daughter of Mathias), though Marquess Alexis Deux (son of Sylvester) still persuade her. This event became known as "The Great Hall Tragedy" and the peace that was promised was broken. Tensions rise as the Factory Alliance and Fantasia Union settled in a tensed peace between eachother.

Chaos and Crests

The World is rampant with Chaos and it used to be much higher, millenniums ago, which the first lord, known as "First Lord Leon" who repelled chaos and protected humanity with his Grancrest/Holy Crest (Seal), as he free and reclaimed much land for humanity which became the continent of Atlatan. Chaos: A mysterious element that appears all over the world, when chaos converges, the laws of nature will be disturbed and distorted. Leading to the appearance of natural disasters and monsters. This is called "Chaos Calamity", causing humans, lots of distress. Crest: A seal that suppress chaos. The people who possess these seals are called "Lords", they bear the duty of protecting the human race from chaos. But since crests can be passed down through bloodline or by killing a demon and gaining a crest through your strong will. Crests grant the lord, power to their attacks such as increased speed and strength as well as increase abilities to heal wounds faster, they can also be used as shields against magical attacks, and conjure battle flags as symbols and empower the army under their command.

Lords and Mages

Lords: A person who holds power (crest) to suppress the chaos, bringing peace. but now the lords are fighting eachother for crest and territory. to take a lord's crest away by forcing them to give it away or killing another lord which their crest will become a demon core that will dissipate and if you don't take absorb the demon core before it dissipate, you will lose the chance to take their crest. And taking another's crest doesn't just mean you are taking away his power, but also taking away the land that he owns, which is why all the lords are fighting against eachother. And lords always rule their territory however, they want and they never care about the opinions of the people they rule over, and only concern themselves with other lords as they build connections with them. Mage: Mages can intentionally converge chaos to create an impossible phenomenon called "Magic". Not only, excelling in magic, they are also knowledgeable in history, military, pharmacology and much more. they are generally advisors to their lord, by forming contracts with them but only the lord can break the contract between themselves and the mage. Mages can also summon spirits and demons. They also carries the equivalent of a cellphone in this world by use of a magic crystal in their wands that they also use to cast spells with. they can communicate with anyone who has possessed a similar crystal/wand but it is mostly to talk to those in the Mage Academy.

(main characters of the series)

Theo Cornaro is a young and small lord who obtained a crest, through sheer will after he luckily managed kill a demon. he has a strong determination to free his hometown. he also tries and help Siluca when she seems to be in trouble. Theo was exiled, unable to forgive the villagers who betrayed his father which caused his death, his father created a secret grain barn for the people of their town. But when the lord and his family, the Rossini heard of this, the townfolk betrayed him and his father was executed as an example. Theo then self exile himself from his home in Sistina, and is the reason why he hated the Rossini family. Siluca Meletes: A talented young mage who achieved top rank of the academy as the "Rainbow Mage". In the Great Hall Tragedy, she was the first person to realized the presence of chaos and tried to warn everyone. She has a strong disdain for lords who fight others for their crest and territory. Siluca was sent to be contracted to Union Count Igor Constance, aka "the lust count" (who is also a cousin to Marrine Kreische) but met Theo on the road when she was attacked by alliance lord's soldiers, charmed by his dreams and ideals, she form a contract with him. Arvin/Ivrin: he acts as Siluca's guard after the great hall tragedy which he was the former guard of the two Archdukes and excels at speed, and practice long range fighting and sometimes fights in close quarters with his knives, his movements are so fast that they are usually useable to the untrained eye and known as "The Chamberlain", one of the strongest demon seal users there is. Aishela: is a demon seal holder, known as "Valkyrie". she wields a halberd. she specialised in strength as she is capable of killing multiple demons and shattering the ground when she hits it.

other things

there are people who have been influenced by chaos and have changed because of it, but they will go back to normal once chaos is destroyed from Atlatan. Races like "vampires", they are an immortal, ageless race that feeds on the blood of humans. they were originally human who gain immortality and vampiric abilities by inscribing themselves with chaos. "Witches" are like mages but practice summoning of otherworldly beings from Chaos, such as spirits or demons. there are two types of "White witches" and "Black witches". unlike the mages, witches can summon otherworldly projection such as Spirits or Demons and endow them with wisdom and power. Black witches prefer to connect their summoning to Chaos, while White witches swore to not connect their summoning to Chaos. "Werewolves" are humans with werewolf abilities, just like the vampires, they inscribed themselves with chaos, becoming werewolves. they can be identified by their usually dark skin colour, and have yellow eyes and mostly white hair, though some have different colour hair. They can partially transform, gaining wolf like attributes such as claws on their hands and feet and a bit of fur on their body, or have full transformation resulting in them becoming a wolf. "Demon seal holder"/"Dark seal holder" have extreme physical abilities such as turning enchanting their skin, turning it into as hard as steel. Extreme strength that allows them to shatter the ground, itself. and moving faster than the blink of an eye, but only one demon seal holder have one ability.

Mage association and Order of the crest

The Mage Association is a politically neutral organisation of mages that ruled the magical nation of Eramu and has significant influence on the Atlatan Continent, as they contract mages to lords as their advisors. they also have a mage academy where they train mages. A notable figure in the mage association is "Hubertus", keeper of the Pandora Globe (which is basically a doomsday clock running on infinity as long as chaos remains on Atlatan). The order of the Crest is a religious organisation with ideas that often conflict with the Mage Association. The Order of the Crest believes in the one true God created all crests, and who will be the divine light responsible for the Grancrest, "the holy crest". When God returns to the world, a new age will begin and all will be saved from the Chaos. It has some influence, not as much as the Mage association but enough to be somewhat relevant in politics and in the world in general. The Order is cureently led by the Pope, "Pope Leoni". notable figure in the Order of the Crest is "Priscilla Farnese", a priestess, daughter of the previous pope and healer under Lord Theo. Pope Leoni has ulterior motives with misguided principles. and though, the Order of the Crest have holy members like Priscilla that represent the true beliefs of their faith, the pope either use them or kill them for their own gain. The Mage Association and Order of the Crest despise eachother because of the Order's belief in all crest being created by God, they see mages who use chaos to summon and create magic as evil, while the Mage Association dislike the Order as they believe that their God does not exist and is just imaginary made up by the Order. The Order is the third most powerful organisation, followed by the Mage Academy in second place and the Lords in first.

Factory Alliance

Margrave Marrine Kreische, Lord of Waldlind leads the Factory Alliance, after her father died. it plans to unite the Atlatan Continent under its rule through military force to create the Grancrest and ending the Age of Chaos, which make it a terrifying possibility. Marrine is prepared to scarfrice everything, herself and her happiness for the sake of her people, and she will not let anything stop her, she will not listen to anyone, believing their solution is the only way to save those they care about. Even breaking the "lord's code" (it is basically like the rules of war) by using miasma (a toxic black fog) to kill her enemies. she is not evil or cynical, she just believes this is how it must be. Marine is also still deeply in love with Alexis even after the Great Hall Tragedy, but Marrine pushes those feelings aside as she believes that they are impossible to maintain, as she sets herself down the path of war. Fantasia Union

Marquess Alexis Deux, Lord of Jalucia leads the Fantasia Union after his father died. As they plan plan to unite the Continent under peaceful cooperation and dialogue to form the Grancrest and end the Age of Chaos. and as such they are always on the defensive whenever war is started by the Alliance. Alexis is also still deeply in love with Marrine and still wishes to married her, despite the political bickering between their factions, and he will never hold a sword against her even if she invade him. Alexis's personality is always humble and efface, even when surround by his nominal inferiors as head of the Union. he is a romantic at heart, something that his beloved Marrine laments. he is a cute teddy bear noble that when pushed in the wrong way becomes a demon on the battlefield. lands under Union control: Estrela Jalucia Alonne Fergourt Ismeia Sistina Mansour Kilhis Regalia Altirk Haman Dartania

Current events and other things

Other lands that are not under Union or Alliance control and are could be disputed or neutral: Bretland Nelsirse Rumford Vanberg Sandlmia Halurea Nord The Werewolf clan is currently led by their Queen, "Clara" and she has twin daughters, Emma (older) and Luna (younger). A major weapon used by Marrine Kreische's heavy armoured soldiers are the "Heavy bowgun" (it is a heavy crossbow) that can turn their crest into bullets and shoot it, they are capable of destroying stone walls of castles, a gaze from this weapon can leave you a severe injury and direct impact will cause you an instant death. (cause the heavy bowguns bullets are also capable of making a small grenade like explosion on impact but it can be stop by a shield). There is also the "Crest Cannon" which is a newly created weapon by the Factory Alliance under Marrine Kreische's command, similar to the heavy bowguns, as it concentrated the energy exuded by a crest into large bullets that can be fired. Lord Theo is currently in Sievis and is a baron of a local territory and is growing in fame and power. and Theo and Siluca also started to very slowly fall in love with eachother. And Marrine Kreische's mage is Siluca's and Aishela's adopted father, Aubest Meletes. Pandora's secret organisation: it has existed for over thousands of years and has infiltrated in the highest ranks of society, mostly the Mage Association and Order of the Crest and Hubertus is secretly apart of it. they want the Age of Chaos to continue and never end because if it doesn't end, the world will be destroyed again for a second time (as this world is basically an advanced earth but destroyed itself as the earth reject an advanced humanity and now, it is in this post apocalyptic feudal medieval world now), once the Age of Light begins, and the Grancrest is created. Technology level: is medieval feudal age, with sword, spear and bow, magic exist and literacy is a privilege for the wealthy, with the commoners being mostly illiterate.
