Alastor

Appearance

Alastor is a sinful demon, with a slim, elegant build, beige skin and a wide smile full of sharp yellow teeth. He is approximately 2 meters tall, although his original height is 1.86 meters. Her hair is cropped and angled, pinkish red in color with black tips at the ends and two large locks of black-tipped hair extending from the top of her head, evoking the ears of a deer. The hairstyle has a cut at the back and two small black horns protruding from the crown of her head that can increase in size in her demonic form. His eyes have dark red sclerae, bright red irises, and thin black pupils (which can take the form of radio dials when he is in his demonic form). He also wears a dark red, oval monocle, with black rim, over his right eye. Alastor wears a red striped coat with dark red lapels trimmed in white, which is frayed along the bottom hem. Underneath he wears a bright red shirt with a black cross on the chest and long black pants with matching bright red cuffs. He adorns himself with a knotted black bow tie with a bright red center, black gloves with red fingertips, and black pointed boots with red deer hoof prints stamped on the soles. Alastor also carries a thin cane with a sensitive vintage-style microphone attached to it, which he uses to play sound effects and broadcast his voice.

Demonic Form

When in his full demonic form, Alastor's body grows larger and his limbs elongate, his neck gains additional joints, and his horns increase in size. In a scene from "Dad Beat Dad", Alastor has two pairs of horns on his head, his sclera turn black, and his pupils take on the shape of radio dials. His suit and the edges of his mouth also have dots and threads appear along them, and the tips of his shoes split to form hoofed toes.

Personality

Alastor stands out from many of Hell's more chaotic residents with his affable, well-groomed nature. He gives the first impression of being a good-natured and charming man, with a smile from ear to ear at all times. Alastor's behaviour, mannerisms and even his voice are similar to those of an old-fashioned radio announcer and he speaks with a transatlantic accent, often using quaint anachronisms such as "the picture show" and referring to Charlie as a "beautiful, devilish beauty". However, this playful dandy appearance hides a much darker side, with high levels of arrogance, and he will not hesitate to use physical violence when others do not act in accordance with his very particular values ​​or expectations. Alastor is described as a dual man. He highly values ​​good manners, affability, and intelligence in others, and actively despises those who do not abide by his standards, though he often plays by these arbitrary rules when it comes to himself and his own conduct. His smile is also a display of power and dominance, and he considers the wretched to be weak. Alastor has a strange sense of morality, described as "not normal", and has been noted to be quite sadistic, even cannibalistic, devouring lesser demons or those who have incurred his wrath. Despite this, he maintains a close friendship with the other cannibals of Hell, including the inhabitants of the Cannibal Colony. He has a reputation for being a narcissist and doesn't see many people on his level. However, that doesn't make him reckless. Despite being extremely powerful, Alastor is aware that there are other demons and entities that rival him in terms of power, such as other Overlords. For this reason, he is cautious around them, as they could be harmed if he is not careful.

Despite everything, Alastor genuinely seems to want to help Charlie run the Hazbin Hotel, even if it's for his own amusement, and hopes for his failure rather than siding with his idealism. Alastor also dismisses the idea of ​​redemption being possible as laughable, yet he fulfills his role as a partner as promised, staffing the hotel and protecting Charlie and his business from outside threats. He regards the entire endeavor as a fun distraction from his decades of boredom. Despite consistently having a cheerful and confident demeanor, he harbors a vulnerable side that becomes apparent when faced with reminders of being “chained.” In this case, his façade of certainty crumbles and he succumbs to a panic attack. According to Mimzy, when Alastor was alive he would turn into a "kitty" if he drank enough rye whiskey while jazz music was playing.
