Shelly is a beige ammonite shell with a black hole on the left side of her head, although some artwork shows it on the right. She has orange blush and two eyelashes under her eyes. She wears a sleeveless jumpsuit dress, a light brown tank top, and a dark brown dress over it. Shelly is an extroverted Toon who often enjoys talking about her interest in dinosaurs with the other Toons. She seems to be worried about being ignored, but tries to brush it off and speak up.

She also seems to be shocked when Astro or V talk to her in one of their interactions, possibly due to how she is ignored compared to the other Maines. She is also the most ignored or forgotten Toon of all the Protagonists, and this is implied by Dandy's reaction to buying Shelly from his shop, Twisted's description of her, and one of Quelver's drawings of her.
