Appearance
Buddha has the appearance of a tall and strong young man. She has long greenish-white hair on top and black on the sides, which she always wears up in a bun-style hairstyle, leaving a strand hanging in front of her face. Her eyes are light blue and she wears a bindi on her forehead. In addition, it has lower fangs that are elongated to the point that they protrude from its lips. Buddha wears a black sleeveless shirt. This print shows a drawing of a rabbit with a patch over its left eye with the word "USACHAN". He wears rectangular glasses as well as wearing a tunic tied around his waist with a long dhoti. She also wears earrings whose design makes her earlobes appear to be elongated.
Personality
Buddha is an intelligent individual with a carefree attitude and does not seem to take anything seriously. He is also shown to be quite confident in his power, as shown when he challenged the Seven Gods of Fortune and Loki single-handedly. His confidence and rebelliousness is great enough to challenge Zeus on two occasions. Buddha has also been shown to be a glutton with a fondness for sweets: in almost all of his appearances he is seen eating large amounts of some sweet, be it lollipops, chocolates, popcorn or chewing gum. He apparently does not like to share his sweets with others (as shown by not sharing his chocolates with Zeus), though he was later seen offering some of his popcorn to Brynhildr. Buddha likes to use the diminutive suffix chan (ちゃん) when talking to other gods and people. Even when talking to Zeus he refers to him as "Zeus-chan", which can be taken as a further example of his carefree attitude. He also seems to like giving others diminutives, as demonstrated when he called Brynhildr "Bru-chan".
Past
Siddhartha was born as the prince of the Shakya tribe in a small country in ancient North India. Siddhartha grew up surrounded by luxury and there was almost nothing he didn't have. Once Siddhartha grew up, he became loved by his people since he always treated them well. One night, his father Suddhodana told him that he was very proud that he was the successor to the throne, just as the hermit Asita had predicted. In those days Siddhartha visited Malla, one of the six great powers of ancient North India. This was ruled by a distant relative named Jātaka, with whom he got along well. Once Siddhartha reaches Malla, he quickly goes to where Jātaka is, breaking into the room in which he was resting. Jātaka, seeing Siddhartha, stands up and decides to take a walk with him. During the walk, Jātaka asks Siddhartha if he will become king, to which Siddhartha replies yes and that he will make people happy, since that is his destiny. Hearing this, Jātaka remains silent while Siddhartha tries to cheer him up, telling him that he looks very happy. Hearing this, Jātaka asks him why he believes that. Siddhartha replies that the kingdom of Malla is a prosperous place with happy inhabitants. Jātaka answers that due to his illness he will die very soon and that everything he has had has not been by his own choice, since everything in his life has been forcibly imposed on him and he has never known true happiness. Hearing this, Siddhartha tries to cheer him up, but Jātaka apologizes for becoming pessimistic in the middle of the conversation.
Past part 2
Time passed and Jataka died due to his illness. Siddhartha was very sad and while on his way to the funeral, he heard everyone around him claiming that Jataka was a very happy person. Upon hearing this, Siddhartha remembers Jataka's words, causing him to have a small shock. Seeing this, those who were with Siddhartha begin to worry, but he comes out of his trance and gets off his horse, claiming that he has found "the answer." After this, Siddhartha decides to leave the caravan that is heading to the funeral. Later, he bursts into the funeral, throwing flowers, to the surprise of the nobles present. Siddhartha's father is surprised by such actions and shouts at his son to stop, but Siddhartha ignores them and continues walking while throwing flowers. Once Siddhartha is in front of Jataka's coffin, Siddhartha decides to lift it up. Asita and another hermit try to stop him, but he tells them that Jataka does not need their prayers or the gods and proceeds to point at himself, saying that happiness is within oneself. Siddhartha leaves with Jataka's coffin and proceeds to leave it in a river to be carried away by the current. After these actions, Siddhartha decides to leave the kingdom where he was born to embark on a journey through India. During the beginning of his journey Siddhartha opposes on several occasions the fate that has been imposed on others; he feeds a man who was practicing asceticism despite the protests of his master and later saves a girl from being sacrificed, claiming that suffering is unnecessary.
Past part 3
At some point in his life, Buddha began to travel with a procession of humans and animals, who followed him wherever he went. On one of his journeys, Buddha came to a village inhabited by humans who lived a life corrupted by sin. Once Buddha and his procession arrived at this village, the inhabitants were surprised to see how happy the humans and animals in the procession were even though they owned almost nothing. Seeing this, the humans of the village began to regret the life they had been leading. As Buddha and his procession continued to walk through the village, they passed by Zerofuku, who was lying on the ground. Zerofuku could not understand why the ragged humans standing next to Buddha looked so happy. Seeing that the humans of the village began to change their behavior due to the presence of Buddha and his followers, Zerofuku could not tolerate it any longer and got up from the ground in order to confront Buddha. He quickly asks why the people who follow him are happy while the humans he helped by absorbing their unhappiness are not. Buddha replies that absorbing unhappiness does not work because "happiness is not something you can get from someone else. You must get it yourself." Buddha offers Zerofuku the chance to attain enlightenment with him, but Zerofuku runs away in tears, leaving both Siddhartha and his followers distraught.
History
Ragnarok: Fifth Round During the fifth round of Ragnarök, Loki calls Buddha to meet him at a fountain in an area outside the arena. Once the two gods are in the proper place, Buddha quickly asks Loki if he wanted a fight, but Loki quickly denies it, stating that he simply wanted to "ask him something", Loki explains to Buddha that it is strange how humans have managed to fight a god and even kill them as a Völundr should not be strong enough to allow a human to defeat a god, Loki points out that it is by using the Buddhist concept known as Samavadhāna, that one could achieve power that is capable of standing up to a god. Buddha mocks Loki, stating that his explanation was so long that he stopped listening to it, upon hearing this Loki stands up and directly asks Buddha if he is a traitor to which Buddha replies, "What if I am?" Loki calmly replies that in that case he will kill him, but it is at that moment that Vaiśravana and the rest of the Gods of Fortune appear singing a song as they approach Buddha and Loki. Buddha seeing what happened does not back down but decides to confront both the Seven Gods of Fortune and Loki equally, Ebisu is the first to make his move and approaches in a threatening manner and when he tries to hold Buddha, he bites the lollipop he had in his mouth and then spits out the stick causing it to go through Ebisu's hand. Seeing what happened, the Seven Gods of Fortune quickly go on the offensive, but Loki stops them saying that Buddha is their prey. Before anything else can happen, Soji Okita makes an appearance along with Isami Kondo and Kojiro Sasaki. Ebisu now enraged stops Loki who was ready to attack and then tries to shoot Buddha with his divine weapon, but he easily dodges the bullets.
Story part 2
Once Buddha is left alone with Odin and Zeus, the latter warns Buddha not to start any more fights, but Buddha simply laughs. Zeus joins in the laughter until Buddha crushes another one of his lollipops in his mouth, calmly walking away while saying that he only obeys himself. Ragnarok: Sixth Round After the end of the fifth round, Buddha was outside the arena relaxing in the shade of a large tree while eating chocolates. Zeus who was searching for him appeared in front of him as he looked at the landscape. When he saw Buddha eating chocolates, he wanted to take one of them. But Buddha refused to share them and ate them all when Zeus tried to grab one. After eating all the chocolate, Buddha asked Zeus what he wanted from him. Zeus told him that he wanted him to fight in the sixth round. Buddha asked him if he really wanted to destroy humanity that much but Zeus replied that he just doesn't like to lose and asked him again if he would fight in the sixth round or not. Buddha agreed to fight and then hugged Zeus. Later when Buddha was on his way to the arena, he met Brynhildr as she was leaving her shrine. Buddha told her that he would fight on the side of humanity in the sixth round, but that she surely already knew that. Buddha then tells her that he already knew how she had been preparing for Ragnarök for a long time and that he also knew that Brynhildr was aware that by asking for his help he would be considered a traitor by the gods. Buddha gets closer to Brynhildr and ends the conversation by pointing out to Brynhildr that he does not tolerate Machiavellian people like her. Later, Buddha returned to the Valhalla arena to fight in the sixth round. Once Buddha made his entrance, he began walking towards the center of the arena while chewing gum. The Buddhist monks in the human audience silently prayed to Buddha not to destroy humanity.
Story part 3
Meanwhile, in the audience of the gods, they mocked the humans. Buddha, who continued walking through the arena of Valhalla, reached the area corresponding to the Einherjar of humanity. Heimdall was confused by Buddha's decision to walk to the opposite side of the arena and immediately after, Buddha took the Gjallarhorn from Heimdall's hands and began to speak through it to the audience, announcing that he will fight for humanity in the sixth round. The entire human audience was shocked by his declaration, while the gods began to curse Buddha for such an act of betrayal. Buddha then destroys Heimdall's Gjallarhorn with his hand and angrily yells at the gods in the stands to remain silent, intimidating them. He then places his Rokudō on the ground and declares before all the spectators that if the gods did not save humanity, he would save them himself and that any god who stands in his way will be killed. Heimdall, seeing everything that had happened, quickly protested and told Buddha that there were already thirteen fighters on both the side of humans and the gods, so it was absurd for Buddha to fight on the side of humanity, that is when Zeus appears in the arena quoting to Heimdall Article No. 62, paragraph 15 of the Valhalla constitution, which makes it clear that each of the thirteen fights must take place regardless of changes. Zeus also comments on the legal loophole that any Ragnarök fighter who has won his fight can fight in future rounds. At that moment Odin stood up from his seat in the audience and asked Buddha if he really wanted to make an enemy of all the gods. Buddha replies that friends or enemies do not matter, because the only thing that matters in the world is himself.
History part 4
It is at that moment that a small melody about the "punishment of heaven" is heard in the sky and those who sang it were Vaiśravana and the rest of the Seven Gods of Fortune who were arriving at the arena of Valhalla on a flying ship, once they touch down, Zeus asks Vaiśravana to take care of Buddha. Then Heimdall decides to announce that the fighter on behalf of the gods in this sixth round will be Vaiśravana. Heimdall, seeing that the rest of the Gods of Fortune did not leave the arena, tells them that there can only be two fighters in the battle arena, Vaiśravana limited himself to correcting Heimdall by telling him that originally the Seven Gods of Fortune were only one, immediately after that the rest of the gods of fortune end up merging with him so that Zerofuku appears again and can face Buddha. Before the fight begins, Zerofuku pulls out a giant axe made from his flesh from behind his back and tells Buddha that he will make him pay for the humiliation he made him go through a long time ago, but before he can continue speaking, Buddha interrupts him by giving him a strong kick in the stomach. After hitting him, Buddha tells him that he does not remember who he was.
Buddha fights against Papiyas
From Zerofuku's body emerge two dragons which briefly fly through the sky before pouncing on Zerofuku, Buddha tries to help him but the dragons end up enveloping Zerofuku's body forming a kind of spherical egg. After a few minutes a being begins to emerge from him causing Buddha to step back, the creature that comes out of the egg is known as Papiyas who was soaked in blood and quickly looks at Buddha and tells him that he will be the one in charge of punishing him. At the presence of Papiyas, Buddha quickly takes a defensive stance while Papiyas begins to slowly approach him. Buddha asks Papiyas what has happened to Zerofuku, and he only answers that Zerofuku has simply disappeared, Buddha without letting his guard down asks him who exactly he is and what he is up to, Papiyas introduces himself by giving him his name and pointing out that he himself is not sure of the reason for his existence but at the same time that he wants to be able to test his new powers. Papiyas apologizes to Buddha and tells him that he has not yet gotten used to his new body, after this he creates a sword blade from his forearm and in an instant begins to attack Buddha who could barely block the flurry of attacks because he cannot use his Shōgaku Arayashiki because Papiyas' soul is covered in darkness. After an exchange of blows the demon is a little surprised to see that Buddha managed to stop several of his attacks so he decides to fight using his maximum potential, immediately after he uses his Makai Tensho against Buddha who seeing the power of the attack decides to take out his Ahimsa shield to block the attack, however Buddha's shield is not strong enough to stop Papiyas' Makai Tensho causing Buddha to lose his left eye.
Buddha vs Papiyas fight part 2
Despite losing one of his eyes, Buddha remains standing, while Papiyas points out to Buddha that his intention was to be able to pierce his head but that miraculously he avoided death. It is then that the demon begins to transform one of his arms into an axe and immediately pounces against him, seeing this Buddha transforms his Rokudō into Aksayya in order to face Hajun who unleashes all his strength. Buddha defends himself with difficulty against the rain of attacks but ends up receiving several wounds in his body. Papiyas tells Buddha that he should surrender but he ignores his words and tries to talk to Zerofuku because he believes that he is still inside him but the demon laughs and mocks Zerofuku telling Buddha that he has died and that he has served as food, this causes the fury of the god causing his Rokudō to transform into a huge sickle called Salakaya. Papiyas continues with his taunts but Buddha prepares to attack with his Karmanirodha Samsara technique, the demon dodges the attack but Buddha does not back down and attacks again with all his strength using his Karmanirodha Samsara Sasvata, surprising Papiyas who this time is forced to block the attack by hardening one of his arms although he would still end up slightly injured by the sickle, the demon takes advantage of the moment and stabs Buddha in the stomach. Papiyas asks him if he has any last words but Buddha only tells him that if any god gets in the way of his goal of saving humans he will kill him. These words surprise Papiyas and taking advantage of that moment of carelessness, Buddha buries his body even further in the stake with which he was pierced in order to prevent Hajun from freeing himself from the sickle that was still stuck in his arm. Immediately after this, Buddha begins to try to amputate his arm but the demon manages to avoid being cut by Salakaya's blade by giving Buddha a strong kick.
Buddha's fight with Papiyas part 3
Seeing this action Buddha smiles and asks him if he is afraid, hearing this Papiyas gets upset and points out that he will never be afraid but Buddha continues to provoke him telling him that he is much weaker than Zerofuku, hearing this the demon laughs and lunges at Buddha, after a long exchange of attacks Hajun grabs one of his arms and rips it off completely transforming it into a sword to immediately attack Buddha with his technique called Arataka when seeing this Buddha reacts using his Karmanirodha Samsara technique causing both attacks to collide with each other. Papiyas' attack turns out to be much stronger and ends up breaking Salakaya's blade, Buddha is surprised and lowers his guard, Papiyas takes advantage of the moment and attacks him, Buddha tries to protect himself using his Rokudō but it ends up being destroyed and due to the impact Buddha is thrown out, lying on the ground and losing consciousness. While unconscious, Buddha notices a presence holding his hand, causing him to wake up and once he opens his eyes, Buddha begins to laugh, causing Papiyas to think he's going crazy, but Buddha tells him again that he's weak, and immediately stands up and using his Samavadhāna manages to forge a Völundr with Zerofuku from the remains of his Ono No Fukō. Once his Völundr is forged, Buddha points at Papiyas while telling him that he will punish him. The demon who is consumed by rage cannot believe what is happening and immediately prepares to attack, this time Buddha is able to evade several of Hajun's attacks and when he realizes that the latter is doubting himself Buddha asks him again if he is afraid, this causes Papiyas to become even more enraged and decides to use his Arataka technique again, but this time Buddha manages to block it and quickly manages to cut his chest, seeing this the demon begins to attack desperately but fails to connect any blows.
Divine Weapon
Rokudō (六道棍, lit. "The Six Realms"?): A bō with a Prayer Wheel engraved on one end of it. Buddha has shown great versatility in using his weapon, as he has been able to use it with great agility and speed when attacking Zerofuku. Rokudō has also shown the ability to change form under the command of Mawariwa Rokudō (廻わ六道, lit. "The Revolving Six Realms"?), being able to transform into a wide variety of weapons. However, Buddha is unable to control this change of forms, as the resulting weapon depends on the emotions and feelings that Buddha experiences at that time. Shapes of the staff During the sixth round of combat, the divine staff showed five different forms corresponding to five of the six realms that make up the cycle of reincarnation in Buddhism, which are protected by a manifestation of the bodhisattva Avalokiteshvara (called Kannon in Japan). First Realm: Deva World, Wish-fulfilling Avalokiteśvara (六道棍・壱之道 天道如意観音の)力, ) Lokapala (十二天斧(ローカパーラ), Rōkapāra?, lit. "Axe of the Protective Devas"): Rokudō takes the form of a halberd with which Buddha would be able to cut through Zerofuku's chest. Akusatsuya Second Kingdom: Human World, Infallible Rope of Avalokiteśvara (六道棍 弐之道・人間道 不空羂索観音) Aksayya (金剛独鈷剣(アクサツヤー), , lit. "Indestructible Lightning Sword" ?): Rokudō takes the form of a small sword with a wide blade suitable for being held with one hand, with this weapon Buddha was able to deflect and destroy the sharp blades coming from Zerofuku's Fukou Renji. Third Kingdom: Animal World, Horsehead Avalokiteśvara (六道棍弐之道畜生道馬頭観音) Nirvana (正覚涅槃棒(ニルヴァーナ), Niruvu~āna ?, lit. "End of suffering"): It is one of the forms that Rokudō can turn into, it is a kanabō with which Buddha was able to hurt Zerofuku.
Divine Weapon
Fourth Kingdom: Ashura World, Eleven-Faced Avalokiteśvara (六道棍四之道修羅界十一面観音) Ahimsa (七難即滅の盾 (アヒンサー), Shichinan Soku Metsu No tate?, Lit. "Shield of the Seven Difficulties"): It is one of the forms that Rokudō can turn into, it is a huge shield which was able to withstand a direct attack from a gigantic Ono No Fukō. Rokudō Gakidō Go Koredō Fifth Kingdom: Preta World, Thousand-armed Avalokiteśvara (六道棍餓鬼道五之道) Salakayas (荒神の戦鎌 (サラーカァヤス), Kōjin no sen kama?, lit. "War Sickle of the Wild God"): Rokudō takes the form of a huge sickle which has the head of a Lion of Fu, Buddha He was able to access this form of Rokudō because of the rage he felt in his heart.
Skills
Godly Agility and Reflexes: Buddha was able to react and dodge Ebisu's point-blank shots with ease. He also managed to block and evade several of Hajun's attacks when he was unable to see the movements of his soul with his Shogaku Arayashiki.
Techniques
Shōgaku Arayashiki or Samyak Sambodhi Alaya Vijnana (正覚阿頼耶識 (しょうがく• あらやしき), , lit. "Enlightenment: Eighth Consciousness" ?): It is one of Buddha's special techniques, when activated the pupils of his eyes take the shape of a lotus flower, and at the same time, he gains the ability to see what may happen in the future for a few moments. This allows him to see the actions or abilities that will be used against him, giving Buddha the opportunity to plan how to dodge or defend against his rivals' attacks. With Shōgaku Arayashiki Buddha has the ability to see the light emitted by the souls of living beings and observe their fluctuations since every time a living being decides to make a movement its soul moves before its body. Thanks to this, Buddha can predict every action of his opponent. However, if a living being lacks light in its soul, the Shōgaku Arayashiki will not be useful because Buddha will be unable to see its movements. Karmanirodha Samsara (業滅輪廻 (どうめつ リんね), Dō metsu Rin ne ?, lit. "Karma Destroyer of Samsara"): When Buddha's Rokudō takes the form of Salakaya due to the rage that resides in his heart, Buddha can perform this attack that consists of a powerful cut with his scythe which leaves behind a trail whose appearance resembles the faces of lamenting souls. Karmanirodha Samsara Sasvata (業滅輪廻・久遠 (ごうめつりんね・くおん), Dō metsu rin'ne kuon, ?, Lit. "Destroyer of Karma of Samsara: Eternal"): Like the previous technique, Buddha performs a cut with his scythe with the addition that the lion's snout carved on it throws out a powerful breath which gives greater momentum to the attack, increasing its speed and power in the process.
Techniques part 2
Samavadhāna (一蓮托生, , Ichiren takushō?, lit. "Shared Fate"): Buddha created the concept behind the existence of the Völundr of the Valkyries. It is that when two warriors risk their lives by joining each other, they can reach their full potential. It is through this concept that the Einherjar can gain enough power to stand against the gods by joining their soul with that of a Valkyrja.
Curiosities
The rabbit printed on his shirt is possibly a reference to the Buddhist tale of the moon rabbit, which symbolizes a supreme act of altruism. In one of the Moon-Rabbit tales, Buddha takes the form of a rabbit during a period of spiritual testing and meets Brahma, and Buddha jumps into the fire and becomes food for him. Brahma is so pleased with this selfless act that he paints a picture of a rabbit on the moon as a memento of this event. The rabbit escapes the flames unharmed, as his spiritual transformation has immortalized him. In another version of the same story, Buddha is walking through the forest and comes across a rabbit, which offers itself as food, which pleases Buddha. In this version, Buddha honors the rabbit by placing it on the moon for eternal safekeeping. Buddha's divine weapon is named Rokudō, which is a Buddhist term that can be translated as The Six Worlds or The Six Realms. According to Buddhism, there are six realms in which all souls that have not attained enlightenment are reborn, the realm in which said souls will be reborn depends on the actions they have taken in life, The engravings that can be seen on Rokudō's prayer wheel are called Sūtras. These are the discourses given by Buddha or one of his closest disciples. The best-known Sūtras are: the Lotus Sūtra, the Garland Sūtra, the Diamond Sūtra, and the Heart Sūtra.
