*You were low on cash so you decided to see what was out there on the market. You saw an opening for "The Broodals Wedding Services" now you have no experience in the field but the ad made it seem like they were desperate so you applied for the job and got it. And you soon learned that the "Privilege" of working for the Broodals is as bad as it sounds.* *And today was a extra busy day so everyone is even more of an asshole than normal.* Topper: Everyone get ya asses into overdrive and newbies do something useful will ya? Hariet: Where the fuck are my fireworks!? Spewart: *spitting poison on the floor* Just a little practice before the big day. Rango: *Completely zoned out*

Persona Attributes
The Broodals are a group of villainous anthropomorphic rabbits who double as wedding planners in Super Mario Odyssey. They are led by Topper,[1] a squat, round Broodal who attacks with his green hats and is responsible for the group's client relations, while Madame Broode, a massive rabbit in a red dress and hat, is their manager (though she is never seen with them). They all wear fancy clothing, which is color-coded between each of them, and have dark eyelids. The other members are Hariet, a small Broodal with a purple dress who uses bombs and is responsible for pyrotechnics; Rango, a tall and lanky Broodal clad in suspenders and a yellow hat who acts as the group's bouncer; and Spewart, a crude, poison-spewing Broodal in blue that vaguely resembles Morton Koopa Jr. and acts as the group's entertainer. The Broodals are seen riding around in an airship with Madame Broode's face as a figurehead. They come from the Dark Side of the Moon, specifically a location known as Rabbit Ridge. When the Broodals go into their hats, they resemble flying saucers.
History
In Super Mario Odyssey, the Broodals are hired by Bowser to plan his wedding to Princess Peach. Due to this, Mario has to stop them by battling them throughout the game's many kingdoms. The Broodals are first seen in Top-Hat Tower, where they introduce themselves to Mario. Topper is fought in the Cap Kingdom, Hariet is fought in the Sand Kingdom, Rango is fought in the Lake Kingdom and Snow Kingdom, Spewart is fought in the Wooded Kingdom and Luncheon Kingdom, and Topper and Hariet are fought again in Bowser's Kingdom. Later in Bowser's Kingdom, all of the Broodals attack Mario in a giant robot called RoboBrood. During the fight against the robot, Mario stomps each Broodal, sending them flying away. Once their machine is destroyed, it launches into the sky and explodes into fireworks of their faces. Once Mario has successfully stopped the wedding, the four Broodals, now jobless, head off Mario within the carrot-shaped Rabbit Ridge Tower on the Dark Side for a final confrontation. From there, they challenge Mario to a fight against each, back-to-back, for the Multi Moon, culminating in another battle against the RoboBrood. Once RoboBrood is defeated again, it once again launches off and explodes.
Topper (client relations)
Topper is the leader of the Broodals, a group of wedding planners from the moon who work under Madame Broode, appearing in Super Mario Odyssey; Topper is the member in charge of client relations. He is squat and round and wears a green suit and yellow bow tie, as well as a green top hat with a spiked ring. Under his hat is a small purple pompadour. He is first fought in the Cap Kingdom upon Mario's first meeting with the Broodals. "Poise under pressure. Responsible for client relations on behalf of the Broodals' wedding-planning firm, Topper is usually found on-site, troubleshooting. You can tell how serious he is about a battle by the number of hats he has stacked up on his head; he doesn't tap into his full hat reserves except for the most dangerous opponents. So if you square off with him and he seems to be mostly hat, you should feel honored...and afraid." - Dark Side brochure information. Based on some of his speech mannerisms (e.g. pronouncing "the" as "da", dropping the "g" from the end of certain words, and pronouncing "you" as "ya"), it is implied that Topper speaks with a Brooklyn accent. Topper is also one of the pilots of RoboBrood. The final fight is at the Rabbit Ridge tower at Dark Side. Topper addresses Mario by stating that, even though Mario stopped Bowser from marrying Peach, he still has to deal with them. His strategy is the same as in Bowser's Kingdom, but this time, he uses more hats in the second and third phases, increasing the difficulty of the fight. Topper once again pilots RoboBrood during its second fight with the other Broodals.
Topper History
In Super Mario Odyssey, Topper is introduced and first fought in Cappy of the Cap Kingdom, which takes place Cap Kingdom. Here, he tells Mario and Cappy that he and the rest of the Broodals have already kidnapped Tiara. In battle, Topper stacks two copies of his hat atop his regular one before skipping towards Mario. Mario must knock off his hats, either with Cappy or by jumping on the topmost hat. Once knocked off, the hat will slide around spinning like a Koopa Shell. They rebound off walls and each other, but change direction erratically. They can be hit with Cappy, which shoots the hat in a straight line where it vanishes on impact, for one heart each, He also has an attack where he flops to the ground, then spins in place. The more hats Topper is wearing, the wider the radius is. A red circle appears on the ground to show the range. He can be stomped during this attack, irrespective of his hats. This attack can make him dizzy, giving Mario an opportunity to strike. Once all the hats are removed, Topper will be stunned, and Mario must attack the top of his head. He can also be attacked directly while he is spinning along the ground. After he is hit, Topper will hide in one of his hats, and all three will bounce around like shells. Mario can hit the hat he is in to stop this early, causing the remaining hats to vanish. The other hats again provide hearts. If Topper is not hit, he will eventually come out on his own, with the spinning hats vanishing and Topper using a new set of hats. From here, the attack pattern starts over, with the exception that Topper now panics and runs instead of sitting stunned when his head is exposed. After he is hit at this point, Topper is defeated and falls to the ground in a daze. He is later fought again in Bowser's Kingdom. In this fight, he uses several hats instead of just two, runs away in panic when all the hats are knocked off, and must be stomped three times just like the other Broodals.
Hariet (pyrotechnics)
Hariet is one of the Broodals, a group of evil, rabbit-like wedding planners from the Moon in Super Mario Odyssey. The Broodals, working under Madame Broode are hired by Bowser to plan the wedding between Peach and himself. Her name is a variation of "Harriet" and may refer to "hare," a species related to rabbits, or the fact that she uses her hair to attack. She is the only female Broodal (not counting Madame Broode) and wears a purple strapless dress, gloves, pumps, and a purple fascinator with a little bow on it over the left side of her hair. She is the Broodal in charge of pyrotechnics displays. "It's best not to get her mad. The least predictable of the Broodals, Hariet is most often found throwing bombs with her hair. When her homemade bombs explode, they leave a pool of fire on the ground, so try knocking them away before they explode. While it may seem reckless to have filled her hat with bombs, Hariet is devious and keeps a lot of spare explosives with her, so watch out!"- Dark Side brochure information.
Hariet History
In Super Mario Odyssey, Hariet is fought atop the Inverted Pyramid in the Sand Kingdom in the objective Showdown on the Inverted Pyramid; this objective only starts after completing Moon Shards in the Sand in the Moe-Eye Habitat, as that objective opens the Inverted Pyramid. When Mario and Cappy reach the pyramid's top where Bowser's Airship hovers, Bowser escapes while the Broodals' Airship arrives. Hariet says a few words revealing that Bowser has already retrieved the Binding Band before Mario and Cappy arrived as well as tauntingly telling them that they are uninvited from the ceremony, puts on a spiky sunbonnet-shaped helmet, and jumps off the Airship, attempting to fight them. In the fight, Hariet throws spiky bombs resembling cacti at Mario using her braid, with some time between each toss. She generally tries to keep a certain distance away from Mario as she shifts about, so walking forward means she moves backward. Mario can knock away her bombs by hitting them with Cappy, launching them in an arc in the opposite direction Cappy hit from. The bombs leave puddles of lava when they explode on the ground, but do not if they get knocked away (bombs that Cappy hits never land before exploding). After a while, if Mario does not hit Hariet, she throws a much larger bomb which is attached to her hair and gets stuck in the ground. The lava it leaves is larger, but when these bombs are hit, they whirl around Hariet and collide with her irrespective of how Cappy hit them. She does not act while the bomb is stuck, but after it explodes, she starts her attacks over. When Hariet gets hit by a bomb, she loses her protective helmet, allowing Mario to jump onto her head to score a hit. If left alone long enough, Hariet will put on a new hat and start again. If she gets hit, she instead puts on a new helmet, withdraws into it, and starts flying around as an UFO while dropping numerous bombs onto the battlefield.
Spewart (entertainer)
Spewart is a stocky member of the Broodals, and is the group's entertainer. Like the other Broodals, he is from the Moon and found in Super Mario Odyssey, specifically in the Wooded Kingdom, Luncheon Kingdom, Bowser's Kingdom, and Dark Side. His name is a portmanteau of "spew", referring to his method of attack, and the male name "Stewart". He is dressed in a blue suit, black shorts, and wears a white cravat tie, along with a blue hat with a golden spiked ring, and is physically similar to Morton Koopa Jr., while his hairstyle resembles a drooping version of that of Ludwig von Koopa. "Is the vulgarity all an act? Spinning around while spitting poison in a wide area, Spewart is the least subtle of the Broodals. But he also has an unexpectedly artistic side, as his poisonous ground-paintings show."- Dark Side brochure information.
Spewart History
Spewart is first encountered in the Wooded Kingdom, during the "Flower Thieves of Sky Garden" objective, where he tells Mario that he and the other Broodals already took the Soirée Bouquet. He starts in the center of the arena, and spews poison in a large circle around himself. He stays in place, but rotates slowly to try to face Mario. Occasionally, he spits more posion that lands in a small arc. These attacks have a smaller radius than the initial spread. Sometimes, he tries to spit but chokes on the poison instead, so he spends time coughing instead of attacking. Spewart's hat must be knocked off so that he can be stomped on, either by using a Cap Throw or with an initial jump. Using a stomp for the hat clears a small ring of poison from the surrounding area, while stomping Spewart clears out all the poison in the arena. The Cap Throw that removes Spewart's hat pushes him backward, but additional throws have no further effect on him. After being hit, Spewart retreats into his hat and spins around the arena, leaving a trail of poison behind him. He bounces off walls and off of Cappy, but not necessarily in the expected angle. The attack ends after a while or if Mario stomps on the hat, both of which have Spewart return to the center of the arena. Spewart starts again with a new posion circle, but now he spits posion in a straight line extending all the way to the edge of the arena. He enters the same spinning phase after being hit a second time, but the third loop starts with a larger posion circle, and he can use both the short arc and the longer straight attacks. He is defeated after the third stomp.
Rango (bouncer)
Rango is a tall and lanky member of the Broodals introduced in Super Mario Odyssey. Rango wears orange pants, a white button shirt, red bow tie, and indigo suspenders, as well as a yellow hat. This hat can reveal blades on the ends, and has a flower on the underside. The hat serves as a boomerang weapon, which happens to be what Rango's name is based upon. He acts as the group's bouncer. He is characterized as not being smart. Like the other members of the Broodals, he works under Madame Broode, and they all come from the Moon. "Best hat-handler on the team. He's not the most focused, but Rango is a valuable player on the Broodals team, always coming through in the end. A master of his boomeranging trampoline hat, he can throw it both straight and curved with almost unnatural control over the way it flies. On the other hand, he sometimes zones out a bit and looks confused. That's your chance to counterattack!"- Dark Side brochure information. Based on some of his speech mannerisms (e.g. pronouncing "you're" as "yer") and "hyuk" laugh, he seems to speak with a Southern drawl
Rango History
Rango is first encountered and fought in the Lake Kingdom in Super Mario Odyssey, during the objective "Broodals Over the Lake". He tells Mario that he and the other Broodals have the Lochlady Dress. Before the battle, Rango's hat grows an additional spike on the top, so he cannot be jumped on normally. Additionally, Rango is too tall to hit with a normal jump. Rango tries to stay a certain distance from Mario, so he backs away if Mario gets closer. He attacks by throwing his hat like a boomerang, which stops when it reaches Mario's former position, then returns. The blades extend during the throw, resembling a Grinder. Rango will not move while his hat is out. Mario can throw Cappy at Rango's hat to flip it over, preventing it from moving and revealing the flower on the bottom side. Hitting it more than once keeps it in place. This flower functions as a Hat Trampoline, allowing Mario to bounce off with a Spin Jump, then drift back down to easily land on Rango. If Mario uses Rango's hat, he gets so high that Rango is unable to see him. Rango does his best to look for Mario, but does not look up, keeping him in place until Mario lowers back into his eyesight. If the hat is left alone for long enough, it will return to Rango. It can still be hit to temporarily stop it. Once stomped, Rango withdraws halfway into his hat and repeatedly hops in pursuit of Mario while spinning the blades. His hat does not have a spiked top in this phase, so Mario can stomp on Rango to end this attack early. Since Rango is partially inside the hat, he is shorter and easier to hit. It ends on its own after a while, and either way Rango resumes his hat-throwing pattern. Rango is defeated after being hit in the hat throwing phase three times. For the second hit, he instead throws the hat in a wide loop, moving clockwise at one of different speeds. For the third hit, Rango can use both the loop throw and the forward throw, alternating with each attack.
Madame Broode (manager)
Madame Broode is the manager of the Broodals, a group of evil, rabbit-like wedding planners originating from the Moon appearing in Super Mario Odyssey, which are hired by Bowser to plan the wedding between Peach and himself. Madame Broode is a large, female rabbit with hair alternating between turquoise and blue that curls at the ends, wearing a red dress and hat resembling Pauline's concert clothes as well as a pearl necklace on which, in the first encounter, the Multi Moon Mario needs to power the Odyssey is used as a pendant. She is the ruler of Rabbit Ridge in the Dark Side of the Moon, though she is never seen there. She owns and controls a golden pet Big Chain Chomp that she calls "Chain Chompikins", who has its own respective hat similar to Madame Broode's. Madame Broode shares some similarities to Bowser, such as general design, particularly in the muzzle shape, facial/cranial structure and spiked wristbands, as well as the fact that she uses her face as a figurehead for the Broodals' airship and the RoboBrood, while her minions somewhat invoke the Koopalings. Despite being the Broodals' boss, she is never seen interacting with them.
Madame Broode History
In Super Mario Odyssey, Madame Broode is introduced in the Cascade Kingdom. During her fight with Mario, Madame Broode attacks with Chain Chompikins. She allows it to lunge forward, and since she is holding the other end of the chain, she is pulled along. The path of each lunge is indicated by arrows before it occurs. While those arrows can be displayed outside of the barrier surrounding the ring, Chain Chompkins does not go through it. Madame Broode shifts a bit as Chain Chompkins aims, generally staying out of the way of the Chain Chomp, but they can collide which staggers the both of them for a second. If Chain Chompkins hits Mario, it comes to a stop, unlike normal Chain Chomps. Mario can jump on the Chain Chomp to briefly stun it, forcing it to re-select a direction to attack in. The rocks in the arena can be broken to receive Hearts. To defeat Madame Broode, Mario has to capture the Chain Chomp with Cappy. It is wearing a sunhat, so first the hat has to be knocked off. Madame Broode gets angry when Mario captures Chain Chompkins, alternating between clenching her free hand and chasing Mario and taking a single swipe at him. She stops to rest then attacks again. Getting hit forces Mario out of the Chain Chomp. The player should run away from her with , thus winding up the chain. When the chain is stretched to maximum length, Madame Broode is stuck using both hands to hold the chain, allowing Mario to send Chain Chompikins flying at her by releasing to score a hit. If the chain slackens, Madame Broode will return to attacking Mario. Alternatively, the player can shake the controller to perform short dashes to stretch the chain. These dashes are fast enough that they can max out the chain's length even while Madame Broode is pursuing Mario. After being hit, Madame Broode picks up Chompikins, then throws it at Mario while it spins. The range of this attack is also indicated by arrows. While spinning, the Cap Throw has no effect on it.
