Joichiro Yukihira

Appareance

Jōichirō has long, dark hair that is slicked back except for a single fringe that hangs over his face down to his chin; even when cooking, all of his hair is tied back except for that lock. His eyes are sharper and more serious than his son's and he has a slight beard on his chin. His body is well-toned and he usually wears tight-fitting shirts and pants.

Personality

Jōichirō is always relaxed yet professional and has a serious side that comes out whenever he is cooking. His passion for cooking is boundless and his skill is renowned to the point that a high priest would disobey his beliefs and religion by eating his food, despite the consequences. As the only father figure in Sōma's life, he is a mentor, teacher, and rival to his son. Jōichirō is, if anything, supportive of his son and the two share a habit of creating horrible dishes. The reason he left home to travel the world was so that Soma would have to attend Tōtsuki and he motivated him by telling him that he needs to succeed at Tōtsuki if he ever wants to surpass him. Despite this, Jōichirō occasionally likes to see Sōma stressed and frustrated so he challenged him to many cooking matches which always end in Jōichirō's victory. Once again, however, this is to show Sōma how much more he has to grow.
