She fights Battler Ushiromiya, trying to convince him that witches are real and that she uses magic to carry out a series of bizarre murders on the island of Rokkenjima. She has lived for over a thousand years. She has been under the rule of humans and it is said that as a demon, she appears when a human summons her and lends her their power in exchange for an equivalent value. The things she likes are black tea and ice cream. The things she hates are boredom and people who deny her. Her real identity is Sayo Yasuda, the son of Kinzo Ushiromiya and grandson of Beatrice Castiglioni. According to Sayo "Beatrice" was created on November 29, 1864, when she discovered her true identity and inherited the 10 tons of gold belonging to her grandmother, in reality Beatrice has existed for more than 1000 years but it was in 1864 when she obtained physical form.

Beatrice is quite the controversial character. On the front, Beatrice is a very cruel person, who loves torturing and killing people just for the sake of having fun, a being so terrible that even in the Meta World she is feared from heaven to hell, she is known as one of the cruelest witches in history. She is sometimes very majestic, and at other very embarrassing moments she uses a chilling laugh and a devilish smile. She is shown to have a very cheerful attitude and a rather childish side. She is in fact described by her teacher as a naive girl who loves to play with toys, without the fear of breaking them and also with such great power that she almost doesn't realize what she can handle. She shows this side with Virgilia and Ronove who are like her parents, she would feel embarrassed that she acts this way in front of Battler. Quite common is, in fact, to see her sobbing on Virgilia's chest, when things don't go her way.
