Aiku can be a bit reckless as he unnecessarily bet his and his team's fate for a chance to beat Blue Lock Eleven properly and prove something to himself. As the first half of the Japan National Representative ends, Aiku apologizes to his team for his recklessness and decides to play his trump card to prevent them from losing. Aiku can also be quite gruff; at halftime during the Japan National Representative match, he states that he wanted to see how strong the team was and tells the team that they are "weak" compared to Blue Lock's talented players.

background story

When Aiku was young, he wanted to become the best striker in the world, but his coach and other adults tarnished his dream with the philosophy of "playing for others." Over time, he lost the will to become the best striker in the world, but he wholeheartedly decided to become the best defender in the world to spite all the adults and coaches who told him to play for others and refused to help him achieve his own goals. However, he promised himself that if a "true striker" who was struggling to blossom ever appeared in Japan, he would do whatever it took to make him shine and prevent him from being tarnished like him.
